The listing is inside a 1960s mother-daughter family building. The unit used to be connected to the rest of the apartment on the ground floor (where i live), but for your privacy and convinience it has been cut out, providing you with a private entrance, private full bathroom and a private stylish space with all of your necessities. The construction of all family buildings in NYC at the time it was built, was relatively light, resulting to one of the not so best sound proof walls. We are currently trying to improve the sound insolation with the addition of further insolation material between the Airbnb studio and the apartment next door. So we please ask our guests to try and keep the noise down, especially after 11pm as I, the one living next door do so. Noted that this did not affect the enchanted look of the studio, it still looks as the pictures on the website.
Interaction with guests
Providing the guests with the best Airbnb experience is our top priority. I will be more than happy to help you about anything you need at any given time.
Welcome to New York City.
A cozy and quiet middle-class neighborhood. Never hear of sirens or trains. I can ensure you, that you will never feel safer than walking around this ethnically diverse neighborhood (no matter the time). New Yorkers here are always welcoming and eager to help no matter the circumstances.
Astoria is a lively, safe neighborhood filled with people from all over the world. In fact National Geographic featured Astoria for its diversity in " THE HUMAN FAMILY TREE".
You can expect a safe and secure stay in this conveniently located apartment. The apartment really reflects the neighborhood as one of NYC's hidden gems.
The neighborhood consists of transplants from every where in the world the majority of which are studying and working in film & dance. This might be because of the three major film studios and the Museum of Moving Image located in Astoria. We are in one of the most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in the world with people mostly from Greece, Italy, the Balkan's, Brazil, Colombia, Japan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Mexico. They all have opened their own authentic restaurants in the neighborhood.
Steinway street is a major shopping district with national stores such as STARBUCKS, VICTORIA SECRETS, GAP, GAP KIDS, KINKOS and many others which reside between Broadway and 30th Avenue.
In few minutes you can be in Times Square or on Madison/Fifth Avenues window shopping, checking out New York's world famous museums or taking a walk in Central Park, going to the Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center or seeing a Broadway show or just wandering the streets of Manhattan. We have everything you look for in a great neighborhood.
Subway Access is a short less than 10 minutes away (N, W) at the Astoria blvd station. The walk to the train station is very safe and in fact, during that quick walk you pass by Dunkin Donuts coffee, Delis(Kiosks), various restaurants and Burger King.
These trains are just a 10 minute ride into the Lexington Avenue and 59th Street stop in Manhattan (leaves you on the corner by the world famous Bloomingdales) and 15 minutes to Times Square. The subway runs all day and night (every 5-7 minutes) and is safe to ride all the time.
On your way back from the city, there is a bus station for the M60 bus underneath the elevated metro station which brings you right outside the house on its first stop. This bus accepts the metro card used for the train and it does not charge any extra fees. It runs 24/7 and comes every 10 minutes during weekdays and might take a bit longer on weekends and nighttime. It can be really useful on long day walks in the city.

Our parents were born and raised in the heart of Astoria. It was a great experience growing up and knowing every nook and cranny in Astoria. The area has really grown and become much more ethnically diverse over the years, but it never loses its charm and small town feel.
