About this listing

Unique experience in a village on a hill protected by UNESCO. It is a sort of a time travel back into time. There are two bedrooms, on with a double bed, one with two single beds, and downstairs with a large space with equipped kitchen and a dinning room and 2 single real beds which accommodate 2 people.
The photos are updated, the garden changed a bit (you can enjoy chilli peppers and tomatoes with spices and herbs throughout the season).

The space

Spacious, warm space. The stone structure of the house keeps coolness during hot summer months and warmth during winter months. Inside of the house is wooden, so the guests can get the fuzzy warm feeling while vacationing, reading, writing books, etc. The house also has the front terrace with comfortable garden chairs and is usually used for breakfast or dinner, and a back garden/terrace with fig trees, rosemary and lavender bushes, benches, and a dinning table. Two hammocks are often used and welcome anybody to swing under the fig tree.

Guest access

The acces is best by car, the parking is 200 meters from the house. You can also access it by public transport (we are always ready to pick you up at the station). The house is in the UNESCO protected village walking area, so please have roll suitcases. Buses from Split have a stop in Mimice and also coming from other direction (Dubrovnik, Makarska). We will help you with directions and advice and even arrange a pick-up. There is a walk to the beautiful beaches for about 15 minutes downhill, but the beaches are also accessible by car.

Interaction with guests

During your stay there is always somebody from the family who is going to be there to help you with whatever you would need. Don't hesitate to ask. Once during stay, a barbecue will be organized for you, if you would wish so. The village is full with merry people who are helpful in any way.

The neighbourhood

There is a fish restaurant, cafes, market, olive oil making factory and a shop, art gallery near-by. There is also a tourist info point with all the sports that could be done in the area and special events. It is both eventfull and quiet village.

Getting around

Buses are fairly regular if you wish to go to any of the cities on the coast (every 20 minutes or so), and run 6 am- 3 am. By a car it is much easier to get around and explore.

Other things to note

September and October are the most quiet months with only a few people visiting the village. About the house - the dimensions of the second bedroom door( the one with two single beds) is a bit small because we kept the original dimensions from the 19th century.

The host was very helpfull. They met us on arrival even though we had some delay with the bus. The helped us with busses and taxi service and even drove us for a visit in Split in their private car.

Petra is an incredibly awesome host. Her mother did the best she could to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The house was clean, and the terrace was very nice. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to use the grill, but its presence is also a very very big plus. Our dog was very happy, even though there were no outside areas where we could securely lock her while we went for dinner. One thing one needs to know before renting the property is that Mimice is located on a hill, and that the house is very close to its very top. Check street view and don't underestimate it... It may not be a problem for most people, but it may be unsuitable for families with children, especially small children. Strollers are a no go since at least twice a day you would be climbing stairs and walking up/down the hill for at least 15 minutes to get to/from the sea. General impression was great, even though I hated the hill, so it's definitely recommended. :)

Response from Petra:
Hello Vadim, Thank you for your response, I will definetly make it clear that the village is above the magistrala street and up the hill. I hope everything else was ok. Have a lovely day, Petra
