PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING. I am a medical student from Mexico and I stayed here for a duration of 7 weeks. Upon arriving to the residence I felt confused and mislead in regards to my living situation. There was no information or previous mention that I would also be sharing my space with arround 10-13 people. This place is a building with a bunch of rooms for students and professionals..... the environment is very friendly but is not what i thought i would find when i booked this place. I had my own room (in a basement – not ideal), and all daily living facilities were shared with strangers. I shared my shower and toilet with at least 5 other people, and could not use the kitchen to cook “heavy meals" ( anything that’s fragrant, cooked with oil etc ) signs in the house clearly say "if you want big meals, eat out", which meant that most of my meals were at restaurants. This is not ideal for a student, and is not acceptable as none of this was communicated before I reserved and flew over to America. Each person I spoke to who was also living there also felt mislead about their stay. I would not have made this booking if I knew this beforehand. Although I am appreciative of having a place to stay, in a beautiful and safe neighbourhood, and I never had any troubles with anyone I shared my spaces with, PLEASE NOTE that this is NOT a house or apartment, this is a multi-story residence and all common spaces and daily living facilities are SHARED.

Response from Denise:
1. I picked Sergio up at the train station and gave him a tour of the area. 2. Sergio had new pillows sheets and bedding and the precise listing he booked for a great monthly rate during the busy season. 3. This is a bnb - long term only for students and professionals. 4. My listing clearly states room for rent and shared common areas and baths. 5. We have a 3:1 student to restroom ratio. 6. Did Sergio think he was going to know everyone when he got off the plane???? 7. Sergio wanted to live cheap in a great area but wanted accommodations similar to a hotel or private apartment??? I'm confused, he could have and should have rented a hotel or apartment. 8. My listing clearly shows two large kitchen common areas huge courtyard- did he not read and see the pictures? 9. Our refinished basement is very nice! 10. I would see Sergio 3-4 times per week in the living room during the day while cleaning. The building empty (everyone at work or school)- each time Sergio would respond to me that "everything was perfect and he loved his room/ the house. 11. Sergio proved to be a troublemaker in the building - apparently creating a negative dialogue with other renters/guests. 12. Sergio is from Mexico City and is clueless to market value and the expense of housing in an upscale area. 13. Sergio was told to keep cooking light and easy. "No big turkey dinners" - we have lots of refrigerator space for proper storage. Sergio must of wanted to cook massive meals- if this is the case my home and building is not for you! 14. Sergio was disingenuous each time he spoke to me. Had he communicated honestly and truthfully I might have been able to relocate him to a different room. 15. IMO Sergio is in the wrong line of work.

I feel very safe and cozy when I lived there. And Denise is warm hearted, when I first came there, she took me browsed around the forest park to make me familiar with this area. The traffic is very convenient, I took blue line to downtown every day. Nice trip, nice place.

Denise's place is very nice, close to public transportation she has provided every facility like microwaves, fridge, heaters, free wifi, 24/7 hot water, clean water for drinking, washer & dryer with detergent provided. It was close to public library & star bucks. Denise had been nice to me & she even let me stay one extra night. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, esp international medical students.

Denise's place is very nice, conveniently close to public transportation and local businesses. It is in a residential neighborhood which felt very safe (I went out and walked around the area quite a bit). I was able to use the busses and trains to go downtown and to other areas around the city, which was very important to me as I did not rent a car while I was there. The house has a full kitchen including a stove, fridge, microwave and so forth. While there are many small restaurants near to the house, the kitchen allows you the option of making meals for yourself. This saved me a great deal of time on nights when I did not feel like venturing out. She also has a washer and dryer available, so I did not have to locate or go to a Laundromat. The other guests in the house were quiet. Denise emphasizes to each guest that there are others in the house. While I was there the other guests were foreign students from several countries, which was an interesting mix. Denise also makes everyone feel very welcome. When I arrived she picked me up at the train station and drove me around the area to show me where things were and how to find my way around. She also offered, as she had time available, to drive me around to do shopping and other errands. She bent over backwards to make my stay comfortable and convenient. The house is in a nice suburb Forest Park, which others who live in the Chicago area had recommended to me as a safe area to be in. In a strange city that is very important. My stay was very economical, less than one quarter of what I had paid before for hotels downtown. I travel a great deal for my job. I have spent over 1,100 nights on the road over the past four years, from four star hotels to some pretty grimy motels. Denise's is one of the most comfortable of all the places I have stayed. Overall, I recommend this as a very convenient and economical place to stay, particularly if you are going to be in town for an extended period, like a few weeks or more. Denise's house and hospitality way exceeded my expectations. I was very comfortable, and hope she will have a space available again the next time I am in Chicago.

Since you’re thinking about staying with me, let me introduce myself! My name is Dee and I’ve been living in the Chicago Area all my life. And I live quite a happy life. Here’s a bit more about me.

--My Hobbies--
I love the outdoors and I love to exercise. So daily you’ll find me riding the beautiful bike path near my house all over the area. If not biking, you can also often find me running my dogs on the local paths and parks.

--Why I Do AirBnB--
I do AirBnB hosting because it enriches my life. When people come together from all over the US and the world, long lasting friendships form. Also Chicago is one of the most beautiful American cities, and I love helping people when they visit our city, and surrounding suburbs. This is why I really do my best to create a fun, and warm environment for every student that stays.

--My Work--
Simply stated, I am an entrepreneur, and have been most of my life. During that time I have created, owned and operated 4 businesses, including my current company, A+ master tutoring center, located in Oak Park Il. I am a certified educator. I became interested in education several years ago and became a teacher in American public schools, then I decided to start my tutoring center.

I love running my tutoring center because I have been able to help countless children learn essential skills that prepare them to take charge of their lives when they leave school. I love helping American children and adults of all ages because I believe our school system is a disappointment.
I love working with students from all over the world because they are amazing and restore my faith in humanity.
