Relax and recharge in our recently renovated Vermont cottage. Enjoy hardwood floors, wifi, a fully equipped kitchen, gorgeous natural light, views of surrounding hills and pond, gardens, and your own private back deck.

The space

Our recently renovated Vermont cottage is a perfect weekend getaway. Upstairs in the sleeping loft, you’ll find a quiet retreat with queen sized bed surrounded by bookshelves, and the nook with an extra long twin bed. On the main level, there is a fully-equipped kitchen, dishwasher, countertop bar with stools, table, and bathroom with funky copper tub and shower. Four steps down brings you to the sitting room where we recommend the comfy sofa as a great reading or lounging spot with full southern exposure. The south facing bay window and cushion seat doubles an additional single bed. Bay window has peaceful views out to the pond and woodlands.

Guest access

The cottage sits on the same property as the main house, but is a separate structure and is completely private. We have 2 acres with a small pond, brook, woods, a short trail, and with gorgeous Vermont walking and hiking trails nearby. In winter, bring your cross country skis; there are incredible groomed trails one mile from our house in the village center. We have snowshoes you can borrow- just ask! We are 25 minutes to Grafton Ponds nordic ski and snowshoe area as well. While the surroundings are rural, we live on a paved road, accessible in all seasons and just a short drive into Putney.

We are happy to share with you recommendations for local restaurants or you can cook in the cottage kitchen with full fridge, oven, and gas cooktop. Within one mile of our house is an organic dairy farm, an organic produce farmstand, and an artisanal, family-run sheep farm which produces renowned sheep cheeses. Nearby Putney, Brattleboro, and Walpole all have thriving weekend farmer’s markets during the summer season.

Interaction with guests

We are a busy family with three boys; ages 7, 9, and 5 months. We can be around to help you or we can give you space. We want you to feel at home!

Other things to note

The cottage loft stairs are steep and are not recommended for young children. That said, we love hosting families if you and your children are comfortable navigating the open loft space and stairs. Let us know if you'd like us to leave out children's books and toys, or a pack & play!

Lauren and Drew's place in Putney is a truly amazing little getaway! The cottage was clean and tidy, with a binder full of things to do. The family is super sweet and helpful, assisting with anything as needed, including hiking recommendations and offering to make us a bonfire. The cottage is decorated with great taste and with everything one might need for the weekend, including baking and cooking utensils, a great selection of books and games and organic toiletries. Our favorite part was the scenic background, full of trees, flowers, a running brook, and gorgeous grass. With a lovely deck, wooden chairs all around the property, and a hammock, we had ample ways to enjoy the surrounding nature! I would highly recommend this as a great spot for anyone looking to spend some time in Vermont, especially those coming in from New York - as it is only 4 hours away. It really made our short jaunt so enjoyable and we hope to be back soon!

A warm beautiful place to stay. Lovely in every way. Perfect for what I needed. To be fair, future guests should know that the headroom in the bedroom is very limited and a quick jump out of bed might earn you a knock on the head. Also the stairs require just a little added care, so anyone who might have trouble with that at night on a trip to the bathroom might look elsewhere. I loved the place.

This is everything you are looking for in a rural Vermont getaway- gorgeous wildflowers, great hikes, farms galore, farmer's market, food co-op, etc. Great spot for a couple or several friends. Lauren is the Joanna Gaines of Vermont- her place is well designed, tastefully decorated and clean. Very cozy, as promised.

Lauren's loft is the most thought out space. There was nothing we would have added or taken away from it. We had everything supplied that we needed, the property is stunning and their dog is the best grounds keeper ;) We very much enjoyed his company and hanging out with us when he had the opportunity. The location was great for all that we wanted to get done in the area. Lauren was very helpful with suggestions, the communication was quick and getting to the home was easy. We look forward to staying here again.

I had a lovely stay in Lauren's cottage while in Putney visiting my son at school. The cottage is beautifully-appointed, cozy and peaceful. Unfortunately, rain precluded me from enjoying the garden and pond, but it was lovely to view them from the window. Highly recommended to any couple or small family for a Vermont getaway!

A great place for a private getaway in a convenient location. We enjoyed walking on the grounds of the property, traveling to nearby Brattleboro and enjoying the quaint town of Putney. The cottage is warm and inviting with all of the amenities that you could ask for. Lauren and Drew were very welcoming.
