Our home is a serene, clean, and comfortable place. Your room has a queen-sized bed, dresser, desk, 40-inch smart flat screen TV, and doors that open onto the patio. Your private bathroom is right next door to your room.
Our lovely 200 square foot room reflects our style - eclectic comfort and functionality. There is a comfortable queen-sized bed, dresser, desk, 40-inch smart TV with Dish Network available. (You can access your own Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc. accounts), walk-in closet space, comfy recliner, full library, and a 6’ glass sliding door that opens onto the patio.
The bathroom, right next door, is for your use only, and has a double sink, tub, shower and all the amenities you may require, including a hairdryer.
A light breakfast will be available every morning along with coffee and/or tea.
We are well suited for singles or doubles, for students doing research at the Reagan Library, ((URL HIDDEN) people needing temporary housing for job transfers, motorcyclists who are about to discover Ventura County, and anyone else who would like to spend a night or two in Simi Valley, the eastern gateway to all things west and north of Los Angeles.
As semi-retired empty-nesters, we would love to introduce you to our city, our county, and our state.
You are welcome to the following shared living spaces: kitchen / great room with large dining table, family room with 50-inch TV and fireplace, patio, garden swing, and fire pit (we will operate). Laundry facilities are available if needed.
We will provide simple, healthy breakfast choices in the morning (muffins, toast, homemade apple-butter, homemade granola, coffee cake, fruit, hardboiled eggs, etc.) and a shelf in our refrigerator for your needs. (PS I reserve the right to make you a full-on healthy breakfast on Saturday morning if I feel like it!) You are welcome to use the kitchen for your light cooking needs.
Interaction with guests
We will take our cue from you. We love to meet new people, but will respect your privacy. Shirley is available much of the day to greet you on your arrival and to help you with any needs. Jim is the map guru and will help you find your way to anywhere you may wish to travel.
If you are motorcyclists, you can pick our brains (and maps) as we have been exploring our state for 20+ years, and we know all the best back roads, pitstops, and unique places in Ventura County and points north.
Other things to note
Occasionally our grown children and grandchildren will be visiting.
We do not have accommodation for pets as our granddaughter has an allergy.
Within a half mile of our home there is a Mexican restaurant, a Popeyes Chicken, 3 gas stations and quick marts, and a Smart and Final grocery.
We ask that you treat our home as you would like your home to be treated.
No illegal substances.
If you wish to sit by a fire in the back yard, Jim will instruct you in the fine art of fire building. He personally manufactures a magic fire starter that will leave you in awe.
Backseat motorcycle babe. Love riding with my husband of 42 years. Love my kids and my grand kids. Love reading the Bible, fiction, memoirs, and historical fiction. Love gardening and cooking (when I'm in the mood). We like the natural world, traveling winding back roads, finding out-of-the-way places, and staying in homey, quaint, or non-generic spaces.
