The space

The main house has 2 double bedrooms and an attic which may accommodate up to 4 people. There is a shower, toilet and further separated bathroom. Open plan kitchen with two dinning areas and three outside verandas surrounded by herbs and flowers.
The two free standing cottages accommodate a further 1-4 people. They have private eco toilet and showers&verandas overlooking the crater lake. All the cottages are self catering with BBQ facilities. Tents are also available for other guests if desired.

Guest access

You are welcome to feel at home! This is a stress free zone with no rules apart from good will and friendliness towards people and the eco-system!

Interaction with guests

I will normally greet all guests and am around to help and advise on the local area.

The house is off the beaten track but local transport can be arranged and nearby villages offer basic supplies, and guides or bicycles are available on request.

Other things to note

Often people plan to stay for 2 nights but end up extending their stay!

Given the distance from Fort Portal, it is worth bringing some supplies with you.

Be aware - the beauty and magical touch of this place leaves many spellbound - you arrive here and you may never want to leave!

A very special place, with a very special atmosphere. Janusz was a great host and has made the perfect spot for those wanting to escape the rigours of modern life. The setting is picturesque and the amenities basic but all you need to get by including a toilet with the best view ever. Highly recommended this place to the independent traveller.

A lovely retreat in one of the most beautiful and unique parts of Uganda. Janusz is a fantastic host with an in depth knowledge of the local area and people. He has created a wonderful space and we were lucky to spend some time there. The lake is sublime. All facilities are sufficient for making meals. The large lodges are within walking distance if you wish you have dinner there and Fort Portal only a 30 minute taxi ride away at 80000 Ugandan shilling return

We stayed as a family with our boy of 4years old. It was such a great place we extended our stay by 3 more days. It perfectly fitted our needs being self catering, peaceful, quiet and safe. There is a small cafe in village catering to tourist if you need that. It's an idyllic location and we had campfires a couple of nights under stars. Lots of Birdlife around the lake. The most amazing thing was the hospitality of januz. The amount that of time he gave us with information and advice for travel and seeing wildlife 'on the cheap' was invaluable. Enjoy this wonderful place.

My friend and I had an absolutely wonderful time at Janusz' place. He built it mostly himself and it shows that a lot of thought was put in it. It is a little paradise. The room was very comfortable, the views outstanding.. We did share our meals with him and some other guests and had some great evenings that way. Janusz wants to make sure that you are comfortable and is a very considerate and great host. The around around is lovely too for walks, markets, sightseeing. I highly recommend staying here. Make it a minimum of three nights...

Ayapapa..the place and location are simply...amazing!! magic!! unbelievable!! swimming in the lake, listening birds (sooo many, of all possible colours ) &frogs, watching monkeys jumping from one tree to another...and especially Janusz's house/accomodation...omg it's a wooden palace hidden in the jungle, the design is extraordinary!! Janusz you are a master!! :) I spent only two days but I will remember them forever :) and I'm sure I'll come back. Thank you Araali and Ronald!!
