I think part of the reason is due to a lack of better communication between us. First of all, I want to emphasize that my place is not a hotel, and the accommodation was booked through the platform of Airbnb. I have received many foreign guests to this date, except for students who have to register at Fudan University, which was not a common practice as a matter of fact, none of them required a [Registration Form of Temporary Residence] as you mentioned. And for this special request, out of kindness rather than an obligation, I would try to assist some guests according to the length of their stay. Again, I want to point out that was not my obligation and that form was also not compulsory for all foreign guests. Upon your arrival, it happened that I was also hosting another two students from Fudan University in need of this form, so I thought perhaps I could assist all three of you together. Now it turned out the other two students got their forms successfully and unfortunately your request was rejected by the local police, the exact reason for the rejection was not specified by the police, they simply mentioned some applicants need more background check. I want it to be clear that I played no part in their judgement and I was not in a position to influence the outcome of it. This whole unfortunate event, I did my part purely out of my kindness. Had I known you had this specific request and would be rejected by the police, I might as well not accept the (Website hidden by Airbnb) reason that I cannot possibly fulfill every such request is that this whole process takes too much time and energy on my part, and since different local police stations have various degrees of efficiency due to bureaucratic reasons, I took you guys to the first station because I had done this before there and I know it’d be faster, saving all of us some time. Also you mentioned that I asked you to check with other Airbnb places, what I meant was that had you checked, you'd realise almost certainly no hosts would go out of the way to take you through the whole process. Finally, I just want to say during your stay, whatever the reason, we didn’t communicate our thoughts quite well, every time I asked if you were doing fine, you always responded “everything is good”. I had no idea you were not content judging from our conversations and your reactions. That was truly unfortunate and I hoped it was otherwise. Second problem. You booked a room at my place, not the whole apartment. It should be clear from the description on the Airbnb website when you booked the room. Your room was separate and for your accommodation only; My wife and my 4-year old child take the master bedroom. Indeed another room had three guests at the time. As for the number of guests, I think it’s my right to decide if I may invite friends or guests over. The point is this never affected your usage of the room you booked. Besides, as a matter of fact, the apartment was empty most of the time. Third problem, you claimed I was leveraging the Airbnb website hosting and marketing. That’s not true. I have been an Airbnb host for many years and dutifully conduct according to the rules, otherwise I wouldn’t have so many guest records already. It’s only when some friends I know personally come over, I cannot force them to go through Airbnb procedure and also because they have a right to choose the service and platform they prefer. As for general guests, I’ve recommended Airbnb each and every time, not only because I’m a loyal customer and fan, but I also enjoy this community created by all of us.
Additionally, the little difference between the website description and what you actually saw was due to my periodic decoration of the apartment. It's just sometimes it may take me a while to update every detail.
Lastly, as you mentioned, you departed earlier than expected so suddenly. I reminded you that since the available dates were all booked on the website, I was not able to take on new guests. Nonetheless, I offered to recompensate you the fees that may be generated by guests from other platforms.
