I live in San Francisco and am available by cell phone and text. Many people want to stay longer than they planned, and you are welcome to do that if there's not another guest arriving! Here's how: In the Airbnb website, go to Your Account, click Your Trips, click Change Reservation, follow the prompts.
This is a very quiet neighborhood, the first one to be developed in the 1950s, with occasionally barking dogs belonging to the surrounding neighbors and sometimes the sounds of howling coyotes... which only adds to the southwest atmosphere. None of the streets in Joshua Tree have sidewalks but this street is paved, unlike many areas which are unpaved. There are street lamps on the cross-street but none on my street, which makes it better for seeing the magnificent night sky filled with stars(URL HIDDEN)It is a 5-minute drive to the three blocks of downtown Joshua Tree with restaurants, art galleries, a health food store and a yoga studio, a 10- minute drive to the entrance of the park, and a 7-minute drive to the Joshua Tree Retreat Center (formerly Mentalphysics)
There is no public transportation in Joshua Tree. It's best to have a car to get around. However, this neighborhood is a nice, quiet, uncrowded one to walk around in. There are some unpaved roads near-by to take in some expansive views and maybe see some bunny rabbits.
Security system that you can use while you are here to keep your valuables safe while you are out and to sleep well knowing that you are protected from intruders at night.
I don't have A/C but I DO have a 'desert cooler' (a device that cools air through the evaporation of water) that works wonderfully as well as ceiling fans in the master bedroom and the 'great' room.
This is a perfect space for doing a 'healing' retreat alone or with a friend.
Exercise equipment is provided: yoga mats, free weights, therabands, a physio-ball, as well as yoga/pilates and cardio DVDs.
In addition to all the standard utensils and items like a coffee pot, kettle and teapot, toaster and microwave, the kitchen is also equipped with a toaster-oven, CuisinArt food processor, KitchenAid blender, Professional juice extractor, Crockpot slow cooker, Panini grill, electric citrus juicer, electric vegetable steamer, as well as electric mixer with bowls and pans for baking.
Other things to note
Oasis of Charm welcomes babies and teenagers. Unfortunately, children ages 2 years old to 12 years old are not able to be accommodated.
There are 2 real beds: a queen and a single. The 3rd bed is a VERY comfortable, queen-size waist high aerobed which you would need to set up yourself.
No drugs on the property. No smoking of anything or burning of incense inside the house. Smoking outside is ok if you are VERY careful to put the butts in the container provided. Even a small spark can cause a fire in this dry desert climate.
Four people is the MAXIMUM allowed on the property. No parties or other people besides the approved ones renting the space.
Please don't move or rearrange the furniture.
Please lock the deadbolts as well as the door knob locks in the front and back doors. The one key works on all of the locks and deadbolts.
FILM CREWS: Please do not Instant Book. Email me a proposal of your project.
Non-perishable Food Supplies: There are a variety of sweeteners, teas and condiments in the fridge. For coffee and perishables like milk, you can pick up what you prefer at the larger grocery stores in Yucca Valley or the smaller stores in Joshua Tree.
1. For returning items that you forget: $15 plus shipping costs. It takes about an hour of the house cleaner's time if she needs to pack up something you left and stand in line at the post office.
2. If you inadvertently take the key and the security system fob with you, please mail them back within 3 days. Otherwise, there is a $100 charge to replace them (the fob is expensive)
Tango dancer. Focusing teacher. World traveler.
I live most of the time in San Francisco and I also have created a beautiful home in Joshua Tree, in the High Desert of Southern California.
Joshua Tree is one of my favorite places on the planet! It is deeply relaxing and peaceful. Whereas San Francisco can feel compressed, Joshua Tree feels like it has more space 'between the molecules' for my whole being to expand. Inspired by Joshua Tree itself, I have created a deeply healing place both for myself and to share with others.
I have lived in Europe for two years, Asia for one and Argentina for four months. I love traveling and have visited 45 countries, and every continent except Antartica, which is on the 'bucket list':-) Now that I've discoverd Airbnb, I'm looking forward to staying with Airbnb Hosts around the world. I also love learning other languages, dancing Argentine tango and Lindy Hop, doing yoga, and walking/hiking.
I teach a therapeutic mindfulness process called Focusing by tele-course for the organization Focusing Resources and have a private Focusing practice with individuals as well. I am so blessed to have students and clients all over the world, and since I work by phone, I can do it from anywhere.
Originally, I designed this place for Focusing retreats so there are many lovely seating areas for Focusing partnerships or just to relax and enjoy with friends and loved ones.
I'm so excited about being a new Airbnb Host! I want to welcome you to Joshua Tree and I know you will enjoy your time at the Oasis of Charm.
