Denise's house was just what we were looking for: comfortable, spotless, quiet, and welcoming. It's in the hills near a little village called Pigi where we found the butcher she recommended. Delicious lamb and the best feta we've ever eaten. If you wanted to stay in the house t…

Excellent host who took time to show us things to do in the neighbourhood. We are seasoned travellers so did not need any help really but it was good to know she was only a phone call away. The villa is lovely and clean and quiet and would be suited to a family with young childre…

I don't have a lot to add to the other reviews, we really had a great time, make sure you follow Dennise suggestions for travel and dinner since they were all spot on. We were 3 adults and an infant, loved the fact that stairs and pool had a secured door, and kitchen and living …

Response from Denise:
Dear Tal Ornan , Thank you for your review. Based on your review I’d like to comment that you made a reservation through the "airbnb" instant booking system for the period from 20 to 25 September 2015 and you were correctly charged for 5 nights by Airbnb site system and not by me personally, since you stayed for 5 nights (20+21+22+23+24 = 5 nights) and not 4 nights as you assume. Furthermore your arrival time on Sunday 20 September was at 12:30 hours and I arranged that you could use the villa earlier so to enjoy your vacation instantly although normal check in time is set at 15:00 hours for the holiday home. Moreover, for your information the extra fee for the air condition is clearly described at this site in the section “detailed description – other things to note: ” Additional fees - payment cash at arrival. Mandatory: departure cleaning fee for a stay of less than 7 nights: 40€. Optional: air condition: 10 Euro/day, available from April to November. Etc… “ Here, I‘d also like to note that I did not charge you locally the cleaning fee for your stay less than 7 nights. Since the air condition fee policy is clearly defined on this website I believe your comment is misplaced. Now whether it should be charged or not in general is a matter of personal opinion. I personally do not agree that it should be included in the rate as a basic service, as from my professional experience with past guests, they use this amenity mainly only during July and August months. Why should a guest pay a higher price inclusive a service he will probably not use during his stay? By offering the air condition as a “supplementary service payable locally”, each guest can decide on the spot if he wants to use this service depending on the weather conditions and his specific personal needs. Many guests frequently and explicitly declared they did not want to use the air condition because it is bad for their health and many others because they have an environmental sensitivity: they wish to lower the pollution caused by an excessive energy consumption of electricity used for the air condition. For all the above described reasons, I offer the air condition as an amenity with an extra fee which can be paid locally. I hope now you understand. Having clarified all the above, I truly hope you overall enjoyed your stay on our villa and in the island of Crete in general and sincerely wish to welcome you again in the near future (if you decide so). Best Regards, Denise Volonge Owner - Manager Helidonia Villas
