Interaction with guests
Carol works from home mostly in her studio. There are times when we are out and about like most people but always at the end of a phone as are our grown up children who can pop round if any emergencies or you cannot figure out the cooker or something. We love to chat and are incredibly sociable but once welcomed we will leave you in peace to enjoy your stay. Feel free to chat to us as much as you like or little as you like. We are incredibly friendly people and really enjoy a good chatter but also respect not everyone is as chatty as us so we leave you alone too :-)
Other things to note
This is still a family home and often our grown up children may come down for a weekend and we cook up a roast on a Sunday. They have their own rooms and bathrooms upstairs and are considerate. Having two lounges if we have friends round for a cuppa we are able to still offer you a little space of your own in the other lounge. Our guests are very welcome to invite their friends in for a cuppa and use the other front lounge adjacent to their room.
The house is an entirely non-smoking place but you are welcome to smoke outside. We just ask you to respect our home and our belongings as you would you own, and keep it clean and tidy.
A glass artist specialising in fusing & casting glass. I work from my home studio. Married to Jon a lead embedded software engineer. We have four grown up children between us. I have keen interests in walking, music, good food & entertaining, art, swimming, animals, travel. I can't live without my family, good teabags, homely cooking, laughter, people. Music, I love all kinds and often frequent our local public house for the jam nights and band sessions. Food, I have a love of all food and I really enjoy cooking be that from a dinner party with all the trimmings to a get together in the garden in the summer over a BBQ with friends and family. I love people and learning about their interests. I particularly enjoy people who have stories to tell, interesting things they have done. As an ex nurse, I have a very kind and caring disposition but also a strong feisty side so I take no nonsense or give any. Jon has many interests including his motorbike. He also has a mirror dinghy. His past hobbies included having his private pilot license and his microlight plane. Also paragliding, paramotoring. He is a keen grower of carnivorous plants. He turns his hand to his metal lathe and creates models powered by steam in his man cave :-) Stuart Turner models and the like. He is great at DIY which is a good job as we have been building our dream home for the past 4 years. So rewarding when we can say 'we did it' we have had a huge learning curve and now own a great skills base between us :-) But, would we do it again? No, never haha. We lived in a campervan for 9 months on site and through the winter it really was not fun. We can as guests assure respect for your home, you as a person, and be fun to be with I am rather OCD so cleanliness is important to me. As a host, you will feel like you are right at home, instantly feeling happy to rummage in the cupboard for the biscuit tin or running a nice bubble bath and putting on a bit of music to relax or taking a dip in the hot tub jacuzzi. Our home offers two lounges so if you are quiet we would respect that and if like us you are complete chatter boxes then come and join us :-) My own life motto's are, live for day! tomorrow may never come so you might as well enjoy each and every day and make it count. Life is too short for regrets and if happiness comes, grab it with both hands.
