Private room in a beautiful home! Comfortable queen bed in a quiet room.

We are just one block from Alamo Square Park and the Painted Ladies with bus lines crossing at the corner and others within easy walking to take you anywhere you want to go. Around the corner leads you to Divisidero Street with coffee shops, restaurants, clubs, and a variety of stores.

The space

Relatively large bedroom with an extremely comfortable queen size bed, wardrobe, desk, and full bookcase. Because the room is on the interior of the house, there is no street noise; it's easy to sleep in here!

There is a comfortable living room for you to share with us, as well as a fully equipped kitchen with pantry. You may store and prepare food there if you like. There is also a laundry with a washer and dryer that you may use.
Typical of this era, the bathroom (tub with shower and sink) is separate from the two w c's. One of those is in the laundry area and adjacent to the laundry tub. Thus, it is possible for 4 people to exist and get ready for whatever without too much inconvenience.
In case you bring or rent a bicycle there is room to store it in the garage. But, sorry, there is no room for a car. Personally, I think if you can avoid having a car in the city you would be wise. There are so many other transportation options and parking is often very troublesome.....although, not impossible.
Ours is a most historic/hip and convenient neighborhood. Right at the corner of McAllister and Divisadero Bus Lines 5 and 24 cross, allowing travel in all four directions. There are 4 other bus lines within short walking distance. Thus you can get wherever you want to go very easily. There is a free app called Smart Ride which tells you when all of those buses come and shows maps of where they go....great one for getting around the city.

Besides all of the transportation out, Divisadero offers most of the services you could need plus grocery stores, coffee shops, deli's, restaurants, clubs, intriguing shops.......young people love it.......the rest of us do, too.

Guest access

Guests have access to, of course, the bathrooms, the kitchen, pantry, laundry, back steps, garden, and living room. In other words, all but the other's bedrooms.

Interaction with guests

Unless I am traveling I am often at home. I have my workroom here and also a garden. I love to meet and get to know the people who come here. But, if you need privacy, you certainly can have that.

Other things to note

Beautiful Golden Gate Park with all of its many wonders is within walking distance or more quickly accessible by Bus 5 Fulton which will also take you down to the ocean for a walk on the beach.

This was a perfect place to stay while in San Francisco. Susan is a very nice host. She gave great tips for seeing the city and navigating around. House is located right along one of the major MUNI routs making it so easy to get around the city.

Arriving at Susan's, is like coming home. She made me feel welcome from our first emails. Her directions were clear and precise. Took no time at all to arrive from the airport. Her home is the perfect location for everything you want to see and or do in San Fransisco. I didn't want to stay alone in a hotel downtown, this was the perfect fit for me. I enjoyed the comforts of home, a hot cup of tea and a warm smile and conversation. I can not say enough about how welcoming and warm staying with Susan was. If you're coming to San Fran, Susan's home is the place to be. The public transportation is so easily accessible from her home, takes you everywhere needed. She knows and loves this city and was a great resource. Thank you Susan, I do hope to be back again soon!

I have been a happy resident of San Francisco since 1994, living right here on McAllister St where I arrived after a former life-time married to a fine man, raising a family of three sons.
I came for a visit and decided to stay......San Francisco does that to you. I spent my early years here touring the city on inline skates, yes, hills and flat....great adventures, great friends, did the Friday Night Skate for years. I still skate occasionally but my work and rental property take up more time and the fact that I now have 5 dear grandchildren living around the country means I travel rather often. Now I walk everywhere with Muni as a backup. SF is a great place to walk, you are never at a loss to find interesting places, beautiful buildings and lovely parks, beaches, trails, whatever your heart desires. Good way to keep healthy, too, with yoga and gardening added for balance. I have been renting rooms in my place since 1997 when I was able to purchase it. I have had around 50 people stay since then, many from other countries. I have furnished rooms and cater to students, interns, people new to the city, beginning jobs.....a good place to get a start and figure out where you want to stay more permanently. I try to make it a home away from home for them. For me it is like having a large, ever changing family.
