An ultra-modern, stylish home equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that any holiday maker will love. Overlooking the valley towards Basil Bay, it has 3 king bedrooms with built-ins & ensuites, a powder room, roomy dining/lounge area & large deck. A buggy is not available at the moment but a hire buggy can be hired for use by a licensed driver and a buggy use policy needs to be signed on arrival. Basil Bay is a 2 minute trip via buggy or ~7 minutes walk for a 8.
Roomy, modern, comfortable accommodations in a truly spectacular setting. Long shady deck and cool interior with ceiling fans & plenty of windows. White sandy beaches, quiet surroundings, azure waters, local reefs and everything you'd want for a relaxing, battery-recharging holiday.
You will have access to the whole house during your stay plus beautiful quiet beaches where you can dive, snorkel or fish with your own equipment. A hire buggy is available and you can use it to get around, or walk if you prefer. Some of the walking trails on the island don't allow buggy traffic.
Interaction with guests
As the owners live away from Keswick, they won't be on hand to help you or answer questions. Your host Eva lives on Keswick Island and can assist you with bookings and information, while Julie & Bob caretake the house and will pick you up from the airport. You will have complete privacy during your stay.
Other things to note
Access to Keswick Island is via plane from Mackay using Island Air (cost from $105 per person each way) or charter boat from Mackay Harbour with Megaforce Charters (from $85 per person each way). All provisions must be taken from mainland as there is no shop on the island. We recommend either shopping in person, doing a click & collect or delivery from either Coles or Woolworths online. (The Keswick Kiosk is usually open for coffee, barbeque lunch, & ice creams etc. when day trippers are on the island on weekends). You will need to bring your own toiletries, soap and toilet paper. Linen & bath towels are provided, but you will need to bring your own beach towels. There is a washing machine with washing powder provided. There is a fridge and freezer each ~300 litres in size. There is a dishwasher with some tablets provided. Fishing enthusiasts need to bring their own fishing gear and snorkelling equipment. There are some kayaks and SUPs available on the weekends if day trippers are visiting the island. Please bring sunscreen and Aeroguard. Please note there are 14 steps with a railing down from the garage to the single storey house from the road.
Pets are not allowed on Keswick Island as it is in a National Park.
Inside the house is a non-smoking area.
All breakages must be paid for.
This home is owned by a lovely English couple that lived on Keswick Island for a short time, then moved to Perth for a year before moving back to Mackay. The house is only a few years old and is sitting unoccupied on Keswick Island. As a local resident, I manage the house bookings for the owners and can answer any questions you might have. Julie & Bob are the caretakers for the house, and between us all, we strive to ensure everything is covered for a worry-free, relaxing holiday for you and your family or friends. We love living on Keswick Island, so feel sure that many holiday makers would appreciate staying here and experiencing a unique and relaxing getaway!
