Wide open spaces, fresh air and no crowds. Transport yourself to a Hansel and Gretel style cottage in a forest on an island where you can see wildlife up close in their natural environment. Only 4 hours from Melbourne. We are very sorry pets are not permitted here.

The space
Self-contained Tudor cottages were built about 38 years ago by a German craftsman and feature many unique features such as handmade headlight windows, handmade wrought iron light fittings and German tiles and original wallpapers. Note: small bathroom with small shower, toilet and basin is downstairs and bedrooms upstairs. The recently renovated compact kitchen features a 220L size fridge/freezer, convection microwave, ceramic cooktop & small microwave. Our water is a mix of rain and bore water, which is then filtered through a PureTec system so no need to bring water bottles as we work toward zero waste.

Guest access
Raymond Island is accessed by car and passenger Ferry at a cost of $13 return. However there is no cost to travel on the 4 min Ferry as a foot/bike passenger. The village of Paynesville has a number of restaurants, cafes, local pub, two supermarkets, Newsagency, Pharmacy, library & medical centre. The Garden Cottage caters for 4 and the Beach Cottage, 5 people. The two cottages are inter-connecting for larger groups. The hexagonal Gazebo is ideal for meditation or reading - an ideal space to enjoy the outside from a cosy place. The gas barbecue, kayaks and bikes are shared facilities.

Other things to note
CO-VID 19 Response:
Our property is now available to book for leisure trips. We have updated our cleaning policy in line with the new recommendations plus a 24 hour gap between each guest.
We have bikes you can borrow to ride to around on the island. The chain ferry runs every 20 minutes from the Raymond Island side and more often at peak times and stops at midnight Fri/Sat night and 11pm weeknights. Cost is $13 return for cars and free for passengers and cyclists. There are no cafes/shops on the island.
