Shady Nook has the best view of all. It overlooks the playground, has an open deck with great view of the lake and beautiful sunsets. Queen bed in one room 2 singles in the other.

Birch Cliff Lodge was established over seventy years ago and today it is one of Ontario's most picturesque cottage resorts. The cottages retain much of their original charm but have now been modernized and upgraded with thermostatically controlled heating and modern, four piece bathrooms with lots of hot water. The kitchens have full size refrigerators and stoves and are stocked with dishes, cutlery and cooking utensils. Each cottage has either a screened porch or an open deck with a table and chairs. Bedrooms are carpeted and linens are supplied. Upon arriving at Birch Cliff you will find your cottage clean and well aired. There will be enough coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper, soap and cleaning supplies to get you started. If you have any special requests please don't hesitate to let us know.
Other facilities at Birch Cliff include a small store stocked with grocery essentials and clothing, a laundromat. In Bancroft there is a full range of stores and services including two pharmacies, dentists, doctors, an ambulance service and a hospital with a twenty four hour emergency department (12 minutes by car).
The cottages and main lodge face southwest, overlooking Baptiste Lake. It is an open, breezy location with a natural sand beach. Tall birches provide shade on warm summer days. Magnificent sunsets reflect across the lake bringing the day to a memorable close.

The Baptiste Lake system is one of the prettiest in Ontario. Set in the high, granite hills of North Hastings and Haliburton, Baptiste has long been a favourite of painters, photographers and nature lovers. The miles of navigable waterways extend through Elephant and Benoirs Lakes into Algonquin Park. Take an all day boat trip to Upper High Falls, a picnic to Lower High Falls or a hike to the top of Blueberry Island for the spectacular view, with the further reward of a pail full of blueberries. Naturalists will enjoy a paddle along McGarry Creek with its wild flowers and extensive bird life.
Birch Cliff is located about mid-way between Ottawa and Toronto, just south of Algonquin Park. From Toronto take hwy 401 east to 115 to 134 (thus bypassing Peterborough and Lakefield) to 28 to Bancroft. From Montreal/Ottawa take 417/17 to Renfrew, 132 and 41 to Denbigh, and 28 to Bancroft. From Bancroft follow hwy 62 north (the main street) 4 km to the 'Y' Road, go 1 km to stop, turn left on Baptiste Lake South Road 7 km to Birch Cliff. Allow 2 1/2 hoursfromOttawa,3 hours from Toronto.
We are located 15 minutes from the town of Bancroft where you will find a Restaurants, local crafts, shops a no Frills, Foodland, Canadian Tire and Shoppers Drugmart.
There is a taxi service available in the area.
Other things to note
We are a family resort. Families with young children are a large part of our clientele. We appreciate noise being kept at a minimum from 10pm on week days and 11pm on weekends.
If you are using the waterfront at night for bonfires or swimming, please also obey these guidelines out of respect fro neighboring cottages.
