If you are in this part of the world it is an experience not to be missed! Josman's place is very close to the caves. Visiting a local village and experiencing how they live is invaluable and fun.

Josman was a very lovely host and very flexible with our stay dates. It's not what I expected though. The longhouse is about a 50 minute hike through the rainforest and you have to carry all your stuff. Accommodation is VERY basic, we were first given a bed in a very tiny hot room (that I think belonged to the host himself) but we later moved to sleep in the lounge area in front of the aircon. Normally homestay food is amazing, this one was not (foreigners don't usually like strong fish/shrimp paste in their food) And it would have been nice to have been able to be more involved in the longhouse way of life ie; perhaps arrange some activities or a show or something for guests to be involved in? We were sort of left to our own devices to do whatever. The caves are close by which is cool. 1 night is enough and for over $50 for a couple we found it to be a very expensive homestay for what was included. Thanks Josman for having us in your home.

Josman is an excellent friendly host, he waited patiently at his longhouse entrance for our arrival. His place is clean and made us feel at home. Everyone in the longhouse is very friendly. The children made friends with some kids from the same house and couldn't wait to play together after dinner. From Josman's house we just follow the wooden pathway leading to the entrance of the cave. Josman's wife served us delicious traditional dinner- Bamboo chicken and pork and 2 different local vegetable dishes. This visit to Josman's house and the Niah cave is definitely a memorable trip for all of us, even the 3 children age 9 to 11, they were enjoying every minute of it.

This is a modern Iban Long House. Inside the house is like our normal house. Got Astro and air-cond. Just it is Iban Long House. Very cosy home. The host is friendly and chat a lot with us. The food is nice but a bit salty to us. The house and toilet is clean. Walk from the house to Gua Niah Cave is very near. But if you want walk to the Museum and jetty, then it will take you 2 hours for go and back. Is a nice experience to stay at Iban Long House.

Good experience. Kids in the village are absolutely lovely. Josman and his family was nice and the food was good. We went to the caves early one morning. It is worth it, so you have the caves to yourself before other park visitors get there. But I must say that one night is definetly enough! We booked two nigts and left one night earlier because we felt there was nothing more to do.

I had a wonderful stay at Josman's place with 2 other friends. Josman and his family were very hospitable and really went out of their way to accommodate us and our needs. We were also able to sample local food and fruits from the meals prepared for us. A great plus staying here was its close proximity (walking distance) to the Niah caves. The path and exploration of the caves was an adventure. I rate my stay really highly and would recommend Josman's place to anyone looking to visit Gua Niah and have an authentic longhouse experience.

My name is Josman Jenggin.

I live in the Patrick Libau Longhouse in Niah, which is very close to the world famous Niah Caves. I used to work in the oil and gas offshore industry. I work as a farmer now.

I am very friendly and easy going and have previous experience in hosting other tourists from other countries under the local homestay programme. By staying here, I will be able show you the Iban way of life.

I will guarantee that you will have a pleasant stay at my house.
