Come visit our solar powered cottage and enjoy the best of Portland! Our neighborhood is close-in but also tucked away from busy city chaos. We offer discounts to PK-12 teachers and donate 10% to charity. And we leave local treats for you!
**Please read through our entire description so you're aware of all our amenities and location.**
We have a minimalist, Nordic-inspired cottage featuring a heated towel bar, vintage and modern pieces from local Portland shops, local coffee, tea, toiletries, and more!
Your stay helps us donate 10% of our earnings to charities. Currently to: Embrace Oregon (foster care charity), The Epik Project (to end sex trafficking) and Refugee Resettlement efforts.
**Please continue reading. We love providing a 5-star experience, so please make sure that our place meets your idea of a perfect stay in Portland. We want you to be fully informed. Thanks!**
One bedroom cottage with a full bath, living room with pull out couch bed and a kitchenette (description below). We have custom, black out shades in the windows and privacy shades on all the French doors.
We are still in the process of converting the kitchenette to a full fledged kitchen, with a sink, washer/dryer, and dishwasher, but in the meantime, our prices reflect that we don't have a full kitchen and that we're still landscaping the yard. :)
Here is what you can expect:
-Electric, ceramic tea kettle
-Mini-fridge/Freezer with condiments and...Treats for our guests!
-Organic coffee, tea & pour over coffee maker
**There's currently no kitchen sink, so we do the dishes for you. Kitchen sink will be added on the next round of permits hopefully by 2017/2018.**
-Heated towel bar
-Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash and Lotion
-Other toiletries upon request
-Comfy Queen bed
-Air conditioner (seasonally)
-Lots of cuddly blankets and pillows
-Full length mirror
-Pull out full size/queen-ish bed (with no bar in the middle of the mattress!)
-Portland Monthly magazines & books
~Our space is shoe-less, but we provide slippers for guests.
Since we don't have a washer/dryer in the unit now, if you need to do laundry, we can happily accommodate that in our house. Just let us know!
We are currently landscaping our yard so our guests have their own private side of the yard and we do, too! We're about half way done and can't wait for you to enjoy your own bistro table and back yard patio! In the meantime, feel free to meander around and say hi to our chickens!
Interaction with guests
We respect your need for solace and are happy to give you however much space you need. If you enjoy hanging out, we do, too! If you need quiet, we fully get it. Whatever is best for you.
We are available to answer any and all questions or concerns you may have. We have a book of recommendations for public transportation, coffee shops, parks and hiking trails, restaurants and more. We will even throw in some coupons for you to use!
Other things to note
Our yard is on it's way to the Wonderland we're working for (updated pictures coming soon)! We hope to have our yard fully landscaped by this year's end. We may even appear in a newspaper and/or TV show chronicling our landscape plans and efforts. We'd love to have you come back to see the progress!
We also offer special rates for return guests. Just message us in advance!

We are shoe-less, so dirt stays outdoors. Slippers provided.
We're a no smoking property, anywhere on our property. We've worked hard to create a space that is clean and want the air and ground to remain that way.
Please respect the Portland noise ordinance and keep the noise inside the cottage after 10 PM.
Please only use the A/C when you're inside the unit. If we hear it on and know no one is inside, we'll turn it off to help preserve electricity. We're trying to maintain a "green" space.
No guests or parties. If you would like to have local friends over, please let us know and we'll see what we can work out.
All inside furniture stays inside. Outside dining furniture provided.
Please turn the towel bar, heat, A/C and lights off when you check out. Thanks!
Otherwise, we ask that you treat the place as if you built it from scratch and made it with love (since we did!). If you have any questions or needs, please don't hesitate to ask! We want your stay to be as perfect as can be!
I'm a behavior therapist, writer and musician...and amateur gardener and remodeling junkie. I love working with kids and adults with learning and social cognitive disabilities and supporting their families on their tough road.
I am married to a wonderful man, who is a faculty member at a local university and loves serving people.
We have a dog and a cat who are truly best friends. They are very sweet together and will probably provide hours of entertainment for guests.
We could not live without great coffee, good friends, road bikes, books and the ability to travel.
We're super flexible travelers. We love B&Bs because it gives us the opportunity to meet new people. We are also very respectful of people's homes, as we would hope for the same for those we host.
Feel free to contact me about any questions you might have if we request staying at your place. We want you to feel comfortable with us.
