Roeburnscar is a unique self-catering wooden cottage on an organic farm accommodating up to 9 people. Surrounded by woods, fields and river it is the perfect place to relax as long as you don't mind the sounds , sights and feels of nature:- owls, river, mosses, lichens, trees . We love wilderness and there is so little of it in the countryside that we leave nature to do it's work and adopt a low management strategy to encourage wildlife-animals, birds, insects . The woodlands are an SSSI .
The space
Roeburnscar is a unique ground floor wooden cottage set in ancient woodlands, on a beautiful organic farm with acres of exciting river valley to explore. This 5 bedroom Green Tourism Gold standard bungalow is the perfect place for a quiet holiday with family or friends just outside the village of Wray. The valley and fields, woods, fells and river offer a wide variety of landscape, flora and fauna to explore without even needing to set foot in your car.
The house consists of 5 bedrooms sleeping up to 9 ( 4 in the main house sleeping up to 7 and 1 in the flat sleeping 2). There is an adjoining door between flat and house. Great for family gatherings or group of friends. We can also be found independently so please let us know if we can accommodate your needs. Towels provided for 7 night stays and over only.
Surrounded by ancient woodlands and herb rich hay meadows in the Roeburn valley. It is only 20 minutes from M6 but feels completely secluded with only the sound of wind in the trees, river and occasional owl hooting. Perfect for walkers, star gazers and country lovers.
15 mins. walk from tea rooms and 1 pub in beautiful Wray village.
Explore the bluebell woods or search for fossils in the river stones. Just put your feet up in front of the log fire and enjoy the ever changing view with passing buzzards and herons or enjoy the fresh air and sunshine on the verandah. Watch woodpeckers visiting the bird feeder or explore the woods to watch pied flycatchers and redstarts.
Experience the natural world away free from traffic noises and light pollution. Perfect for star gazing.
Well behaved dogs --please check with us first-and children welcome. Sorry no cats.
Roeburnscar is at the Northern edge of the Forest of Bowland AONB tucked away in the north-west corner of Lancashire, close to the border with Yorkshire and Cumbria. 15 mins. drive from the Yorkshire Dales or 30 mins. to the Lake District National Park.
Golf, fishing and swimming pool within 6 miles.

Guest access
The whole 200 acre farm is available to explore with maps available for local walks. Anywhere around the house and garden is accessible for guests but we do advise young children to be supervised outside. The river and it's valley are within easy access of house and provides many walks.
Other things to note
Our wood fired boiler will be attended to daily by us.
Towels provided only for 7 nights and over.
We welcome pets-please let us know in advance but sorry, no cats.
