A sheltered timber deck overlooks a sparkling swimming pool, with sea views, perfect for barbeques and sun downers. There is a double garage, equipped with adult & kids boogie boards, four bicycles and two sets of fishing rods and tackle, pool & beach toys, including boules/petank sets. Safety features include a security-linked alarm, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and a comprehensive first aid kit. House Rules

No smoking in the house please. The area is in the buffer zone of the Kogelberg Biospehere reserve and there is a lot of wild heather around, so bush fires are a danger, so watch those cigarette butts and BBQ fires. The swimming pool is unfenced, but has a cover and pool net available, but for this reason extreme caution needs to be exercised for anyone, especially young children, who can't swim. There is low roof beam on the timber deck, so tall people need to be careful that they do not bump their heads please!
Snakes are a potential hazard in Pringle Bay in the bushy areas, mainly in the spring and summer so exercise a keen lookout when walking or hiking in the bush or mountains, and wear hiking boots with ankle protection.

A group of 8 of us had a lovely stay at The Mermaids Tail this past weekend. Everything was well catered for and provided everything you can think of. The house has a modern yet homely feel. Being winter, the fireplace and panel heaters made the cold a non-issue with beds being layed out with hot water bottles as well. Only small recommendation would be to have the bicycles serviced. But other than that everything was great.

Response from Jenny & Paul:
Hi Maxine. Thanks for your kind comments. We have instituted a log book system for all the bicycles, which are numbered, to keep track of the servicing and repairs with the local bike mechanic to ensure all the bicycles are maintained in good condition. Thanks for the constructive feedback! Kind regards, Paul, Jenny & Lamson

Mermaid's Tail is easily the loveliest and most well-equipped AirBnB we ever lived at. The house is massive and easily sleeps 8 people and has lovely facilities like a pool, bicycles and many more. Jenny & Paul are also the most gracious and caring hosts. They were in constant contact with us. Cape Town was hit by the worst storm in 30 years during the time we were there and they showed so much concern and took such good care of us. Even helping us call the airline early in the morning and suggesting the safest route for us to drive. Best experience ever!

This was the perfect place to stay at Pringle Bay. The house is light and bright and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The different bedrooms and bathrooms worked well for us and the family members who visited us during our week's stay. We walked to the beach every day and on one occasion even saw some otters at the rivermouth. Other wildlife that we spotted included baboon, mongoose and klipspringer so we thoroughly enjoyed this magnificent location. Nearby Harold Porter Botanical Gardens are a real gem too.

I am a marine biologist, specialising in plankton research, married to Paul Baines, a chartered accountant. The Mermaid's Tail is our beloved weekend and holiday home in Pringle Bay, to which we like to escape to get away from the city, and to enjoy beach and mountain walks, sundowners, BBQ's with friends and family, visiting the local restaurants and star-gazing at night. There are numerous fabulous wine estate in the region and we enjoy going wine tasting and having lunch at the wine estate restaurants.
