I was really sad getting Paul's feedback on his and his parents stay in our house. Paul, his parents and our house was a clear mismatch. Best for Paul would have been that he decided not go through with the booking. I'm also shocked about the aggressiveness in Paul's feedback.
Most of the the things that Paul was unhappy with are informed about in the advertisement, either in text or in the pictures.
Paul's feedback upset me so much, that I felt that I must defend myself and set records straight.
Paul and I were communicating about deposit and contract before he came here and I understood it as it was all straightened out. Also I informed Paul about the mistakes about essentials like bedlinen that had been in the advertisement on AirBnb’s website. Because I wasn't 100% sure that this was my or AirBnb’s mistake, I immediately included those essentials in the price that Paul originally paid.
The bed linen and cleaning charges are not included in our basic price, to give people a choice to save money on their vacation.
In the advertisement it clearly says that house cleaning is not included in the price. In the communication that we had, when Paul decided to rent the place, it was also very clear that this is our second home and it is not a BnB or an hotel. We rent it out when it's vacant, because it's usually nice to have guests in the house.
I'm sorry to say that Paul and his family did not leave the place cleaner to a greater standard than it was when they arrived. I spent about hours cleaning the house, taking care of waste and putting it to order again.
As this a home, of course there are rules about where to park and how the garden can be used. I think it's better to be clear about that from the start. Parking in a designated place is informed about in the ad. The parking is on our property 40-50 meters from the house.
About steep ladder to the sleeping loft, that is definitely so and it shows on one of the pictures on the web site. We don't say that this is a house for people with any form of disability as we for the same reason don't say that it's extremely child friendly either.
The bench by the dinner table is a bench and it also shows on the pictures.
This is a very old house, meaning every angle can't be straight. What Paul calls the lounge room is for example done as it once was, the walls are newly painted with the original colour palette (that's the traditional way Gotland houses were painted). The sofa bed is only two years old. All of those things can be seen in pictures on the web site.
The advertisement also points out that all the beds (except the sofa bed) are single beds - even the measurements. The four beds can be put together to be made into two double beds.
