Description

The space

We rebuilt this 1950s Homesteaders Cabin from scratch. After jack-hammering and re-pouring the old cement floor, we wood framed inside the original cinder block walls to provide lots of electrical outlets and additional insulation. The cabin features two 10 ft. covered porches, metal roof and metal ceiling, new dish washer, gas stove, refrigerator and state of the art AC and heating. All new plumbing provides good water pressure for both showers (one outside), whirlpool tub and kitchen. Enjoy our starry night skies around the propane fire-pit. Grill up some veggies and steak on the BBQ porch. We have an information center with complementary maps highlighting points of interest and recommended local restaurants, shops, coffee houses, art galleries, theaters, health food stores and our local yoga studio.

Guest access

The entire cabin is yours to enjoy. Your hosts are next door and a phone call away.

Interaction with guests

We strive to have you become a delighted guest and long time client. We're available when you need us and respect your privacy when you want it. Paul is a professional Nature/Landscape photographer (that's some of his work on the cabin walls), and is happy to share tips and favorite photo locations.

The neighbourhood

We are at the end of the road near the top of our hill inside a beautiful canyon. We have graded the dirt road for smoother access. Our local friends tell us they love to come and visit because of our unique location. We are only 6 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree and 15 minutes from JTNP. Our Information Center gives details on the local great spots and entertainment.

Getting around

You need a car to get around, enjoy the full sized parking spaces at most businesses. We have a paved parking pad at the cabin.

Other things to note

Our altitude is about 3.500 feet above sea level. Desert temperatures can vary widely within 24 hours. Our daily temps are usually about 10 - 15 degrees cooler than Palm Springs due to the altitude. When hiking, a sun hat, long sleeve shirt and long pants are recommended to protect from brush and sun. Always carry plenty of water. We are happy to share safety information to help your stay be an enjoyable and memorable one. There is a local hiking and mountain climbing store where you can purchase desert gear.

The place is so cozy and the location is excellent. Close enough to the national park and restaurants, but beautifully secluded. From the awesome fire pit in back you feel like you're alone in the desert (except for the wildlife). The view of the stars from the back and the sunrise view from the front were beautiful. Jacuzzi tub was awesome, bed was comfortable (plus you can watch the sunrise in bed). Paul was super friendly and provided a well organized binder of things to do in the area, restaurant menus and information about the park, along with a hand drawn map. Such a great personal touch that told us everything we needed to know to have a great trip. No TV - because you have the beautiful desert to look at! Really wonderful trip.

Thank you for choosing us, we're glad you experienced the "immersive TV" the canyon provides! We hope to see you again. Paul

Hawk's View House is gorgeous. Private, beautiful view, so expertly and lovingly designed and decorated. It's the perfect location: close to the JT Park Entrance but absolutely far away from noise. We saw coyotes, tortoise, and bobcat from our porch! And the outdoor shower is a dream come true. Paul was kind and helpful. We didn't want to leave!!

Our stay was amazing. While the pictures of the home are good, they do not do it justice. The home is recently renovated and nicely appointed. Beautiful views from 3 different seating areas outside and very close to the national park. Paul was an excellent host. He gave us a very informative tour of the home and gave us recommendations on restaurants and hikes. We will definitely stay here again!

This is such a neat place. Paul was a great communicator and he provided excellent recommendations for local restaurants. The entrance to Joshua Tree National Park is just a few minutes down the road. The cabin was spotless clean and nicely equipped. The fire pit and back porch area was great for watching the sunset. If we're ever back in Joshua Tree, we will be booking with Paul again.

Great house and beautiful surroundings. The sunrise is view-able from bed and you can watch the sun set over the hill from the back patio. The house itself was perfect, full of amenities and very comfortable. But it was perfect for lounging outside in a secluded space in the desert. The owner's house and rest of the neighborhood are not too far away, but you really feel like you're off on your own here, especially when you're at the back side of the house. It's situated near everything else around Joshua Tree, but laying about outside the cabin was definitely the highlight of the trip. Would definitely come again.

Best Airbnb I've ever stayed! And I've stayed in a lot. Last house on a dead end road that is newly redone and everything fits and works and is tasteful. Kitchen is well-equipped. Bed is so comfortable. Your host will tell you to quit gps, follow his directions and stay off dirt roads other than el Coyote. Do what the man says! What gps says is a road is a rutted trail strewn with boulders. Outdoor shower is amazing as is the back yard fire pit. Can't wait to go back!

Response from Paul:
It was a pleasure to meet you Dan, we hope to see you again. Wow, the best you've seen? Thank you so much. Stay safe on your journeys! P&P
