About this listing
This apartment is part of the original 135 year old hired hand cottage for the original farm which this property was part. The bedroom is a new addition and is large and spacious. The living room is adequate but on the small side and contains a microwave, nice fridge, toaster oven, induction hot plate, T Fal Actifry, and BBQ. Don't be fooled by the low price as this is great accommodation.
This is a cottage in the city. We are just 5 minutes from theatres and yet just below the Niagara Escarpment World Biosphere. There are attached neighbours who are courteous and kind with a dog. The road is close to the house an although rural it can be noisy at times. The 403 is about 2km away and as one guest pointed out traffic sounds can be heard. I have lived here and noise isn't an issue.
This is totally self contained apartment attached to a house and we have 2 acres with 2 houses on the same property. They were both built to house workers for the farm which no longer exists so they have been rentals for their entire history. I have largely rebuilt them and put them back into my interpretation of what they might have looked like but since previous owner let the occupants do what ever they liked I had to guess. It looks good so you won't be disappointed. There is a large patio as seen in the photos and this is exclusive to the unit. There is a picnic table and BBQ on the patio now.
Interaction with guests
I am a hiker and amateur photographer and am available for walks if you need guided tours of any sort. If you are interested in walking the Bruce Trail we have 2 other properties within walking distance where you can also stay. All can be seen by looking at my reviews.
We back onto the Niagara Escarpment and the Bruce Trail. You can walk there in about 5 minutes and there are great vistas looking out to Burlington and Lake Ontario/Hamilton Harbour.
You will need a car or if you are a cyclist, this works too. Taxis are available and since we are close to the core they won't be too expensive for the additional distance. The GO station is about 5 minutes away by car.
Other things to note
This is a remote part of Burlington and cell coverage can be spotty depending on your provider but there is a free land line provided. Civilization isn't that far but it can be a challenge here. This property is septic. There is a land line with free North America long distance. All other chargeable calls are charged back to the guest +25%.
No smoking inside the unit, no pets unless authorized. My preference on pets is they be hypoallergenic and small and calm in nature. There is a dog already on the property in a different unit. Please be considerate of the other tenants who live here. Please conserve water. If you use the BBQ please turn off the tank too.
