About this listing

(NOTE: WE ARE BOOKED FOR SUMMER 2017 FOR LARGE SPECIAL EVENTS. ONLY SMALLER EVENT DATES REMAIN OPEN). Our farm is a fun, artistic, & unique place to stay. The farm is surrounded by art, nature and private out buildings to hang out at. Say hi to our fuzzy cows that saunter up to the fence and want brushed. They're very photogenic! It's a great place to stay if you're here for fishing, rafting, snow or water skiing, hiking, biking, etc. Plus we're only a short drive to Portland and Mt. Hood!

The space

Both bedrooms are very spacious and tastefully decorated. One bedroom has a comfy full sized bed, and a very long, cozy and retro couch to sleep or relax on. There's also a big nice comfortable chair to sit and read by. A small folding table is in the antique closet to use as a desk, along with extra pillows and blankets. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed, and a comfortable recliner. It also has a small folding table to use for your electronic devices. The whole house is warm and inviting, with lots of vintage charm!

Guest access

You'll have access to both bedrooms upstairs, a shared bathroom, gourmet kitchen, living room with Netflix, utility room, WiFi, and outdoor access to roam the farm this side of the pastures. If one of us are home, we'd be happy to take your pics standing next to the cows, murals, or wherever you'd like on the farm. If you would like to plan an event, we can discuss fees, which vary depending on size and length of event.

Interaction with guests

I should be around most of the time to answer any questions you may have. We usually leave you alone, but we're more than happy to mingle with guests if they're in the mood. Dale (my husband of 32 years) and I have lived in the area our entire lives, so we know quite a few places to recommend for you to go see.

The neighbourhood

All of our neighbors have at least 20 acres, so it's private and spacious. There's plenty of outdoor activity to be enjoyed here. On the property, there's lots of sitting areas to hang out at, which some are covered. Oregon City is a historic town, the official 'End of the Oregon Trail'. There are museums 7 miles away, and pubs 2 miles away. Clackamette Park, where the Willamette and Clackamas river meet, has nice walking trails and tables to sit by the river. We are less than an hour from Mt. Hood ski resorts, and less than two hours to the Oregon Coast. Silver Falls is an hour south, and the Columbia Gorge and Multnomah Falls is 45 minutes north. Clackamas Town Center, a very large retail mall, and many restaurants is only 15 minutes away. Downtown Portland is about a 30 minute drive, depending on traffic.

Getting around

You will need a car, motorcycle, or bicycle to get around. There is no bus or max service here, but there is a few miles away. There's always Uber though!

Other things to note

We do have 1 very mellow Lhasa/poodle mix, (Gus), and 3 indoor/outdoor cats (Brody, Barbie, and Butch), so you'll need to love animals! The cats won't bother you, and the dog is older and VERY laid back. And then of course, we have our 4 friendly Scottish Highland and Belted Galloway cows out back (Bovina, Cacao, Thelma, and Curly). Two of them should be having calves around April 2017. We also have a huge, fabulous fire pit out back, which one of us would be happy to help start for you (weather permitting). We have lots of guests who love to make s'mores out there. Plus, there's an extra building that you can hang out at out back which we call the 'Chicken Coop'. It's cozy, eclectic, enclosed, and has lots of comfy furniture. You'll love it! It's glamping at it's finest.

House Rules
Check-in time is 3PM - 11PM.

Amazing creativity surrounds you inside and out. Each piece of art and stained glass has an amazing story. D&D were so generous and accommodating. Decided at the last minute to get away for my birthday mid week — somehow had the good fortune to choose Dianne and Dale’s place to stay at. I hoped for a peaceful and soothing spot and found so much more. What wonderful, warm, gracious and good-hearted people they are. I love the entire place, it’s as if the sweetness of this couple is manifested throughout the home and the grounds with all of the artful and loving touches to be found. My daughter joined me and was thrilled when Dianne took the time to help us make a fire outside & make s’mores ++ she even joined in to sing Happy Birthday to me that eve. I love how Dianne laughs so easily and they are both just such laid-back, down-home kind of folks. It was an absolute joy to stay at this ‘home away from home’!

Response from Dianne & Dale:
The pleasure was all ours, birthday girl! I'm so honored that you chose us to stay with, and that you turned out to be such a fun and caring person. I really enjoyed your company, and hope this was the beginning of a true friendship. Your daughter couldn't have been sweeter, or more polite. You definitely have raised her right! I can't wait to visit with you again.

Dianne and Dale were accommodating prior to us even coming to the home. Opening dates after we booked the wrong ones and providing helpful directions to get us to their home. They helped us plan places to visit and eat during our stay, as well as making breakfast and treating us like we were part of the household. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

We're empty nesters, married over 30 years, raising Scottish Highland cows on our small antique farm. Dianne loves art, cooking, landscaping, traveling, and animals. Dale loves sports, animals, and working around the farm. Both of us are friendly, but quiet and respectful of your privacy. We're happy to engage with you though and hang out if you'd like company. We love meeting new people and hearing their stories.
