PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING:
This is a garden unit. The ceilings are lower than standard, we recommend that guests are no taller than 6'2", for your own comfort. However, we are not vertically discriminatory :) It is fully finished and furnished, with central heat and air-conditioning. It is sunny when the weather is nice, but please keep in mind the unique attributes of a garden apartment. If you have any questions about that, please don't hesitate to ask!! We want to make sure you know what you are getting:)
This 1 bedroom apartment is 400 Sq feet. There is a full size bed in the bedroom, equipped with a 40-inch flat screen smart TV with Netflix. There is a small fridge, stove, sink microwave, and Keurig coffee maker in the unit's kitchenette for your convenience during your stay.
There is a comfy couch in the living room which is perfect for reading or lounging and a small cafe table with chairs to eat at or get some work done in a quiet and relaxing environment.
We offer free laundry privileges to all of our guests as well as detergent placed out there for you.
There is also an excellent shared backyard space that is available for use as well, complete with a grill, table and chairs. We ask that you limit use of the backyard to listed guests only.
When you are entering the unit, you will walk from the front of the building through the gangway on the right of the property to the back and come in through the backdoor. Walk through the door to the right of the laundry room and you will find the entrance to the garden unit.
Our guests will have access to free washer and dryer, which includes detergent as well.
There is also a kitchenette in the unit with a small refrigerator, microwave, coffeepot, sink, and stove/oven. Perfect for small simple meals if you don't want to go out to eat 3 meals a day.
You will have access to wireless internet and a 40-inch smart TV in the bedroom, already set up with Netflix
Please refrain from inviting extra people over. The unit is small and the shared spaces are already shared by two other units. There is a maximum overnight occupancy of 3 people.
**for EXTENDED STAY:
this applies to ALL guests, but is valuable info for our friends that seek us out and plan to stay for a month or longer. Please note the following GREAT perks of being our guest: gas, electric, water, wireless internet, laundry, and fully furnished rooms are ALL included in your listed monthly price!
Interaction with guests
We live above the garden unit on the first floor of the building. If you have questions about the neighborhood or the property, we would be happy to make ourselves available either in person if we are home or over the phone by call or text. We will not be bothering you down in your private apartment. We may see you in the backyard or the laundry room as those are shared spaces, but we like to give our guests privacy. So unless you need assistance (which we can be quickly available for) or want to chat, we will just be upstairs.
Logan Square is an exciting place to be right now! There are new businesses and restaurants popping up all the time and the neighborhood is rapidly growing! We love being a part of it and are glad we can share it. Here is a short list of some of our favorite perks:
You can walk Southeast on Milwaukee Ave towards the square and go past many restaurants and bars. My favorites are: Bhan Mi Vietnamese Sandwhich Shop, Half Italian (amazing Italian deli!), New Wave Coffee for pastries and some morning energy, El Cid Mexican Resturant for tacos, Reno for hearth made pizza and beer, and Longman and Eagle for some fancy cocktails and farm to table food experiences ( a little pricey, but worth it every time!)
Walk west on Diversey to find a conveniently located liquor store called Crown Liquors that recently opened up a bar next door. That is the closest bar/restaurant situation to the house. It is actually on the coner of Diversey and Kimball. If you walk farther west on Diversey, you will see a place called Food Smart. You can get produce, beer, liquor, rice, beans, you name it! It's a great convenience store with fair prices for last minute needs and groceries. Great if you only need a few items.
Other places around: Dante's pizza (delicious GIANT pizzas, great carryout or delivery), Friendship Chinese Restaurant, Van Phatt Chinese restaurant for cheap and quick carry out, and so much more! There will be a more complete list for you in the apartment when you arrive, but feel free to ask us as well!
Some activities we enjoy:
-taking a walk or run down Logan blvd. Lots of cool houses to see.
-having a picnic on the Blvd. People use it as a park! its a fun meeting spot.
-grilling out in the backyard
-seasonally available (Through october), the Logan Square Farmer's Market on sundays from 10am-2pm
-renting a Divvy bike from the square and riding from logan square, through bucktown, and wicker park along Milwaukee Ave.
-Take the train or bike to Wicker park to see some live music at Double Door or the Subteranean. Just a few stops away from the square on the blueline.
The Blueline is an 8 minute walk from the apartment which gives you access to Wicker Park and Bucktown and the downtown Chicago and goes in the other direction all the way to Ohare international airport. There are also many buses running along Milwaukee Ave. and Diversey. Chicago also ha cabs, Uber and Lyft. There is a Divvy bike sharing station in the square as well, if you want some exercise.
Other things to note
We have a cot that sleeps 1 person if you need extra sleeping spots! Please let us know if you want it and we will set it up for you with sheets, pillows, and blankets. The couch is also comfy enough to sleep on and creates another spot for an extra guest who doesn't want to share the bed. Again, the ceiling are lower than normal, about 6'4". We encourage guests over 6' to take that into consideration when booking.

-No smoking inside. You can smoke in the backyard, but please dispose of cigarette butts in the ashtray or trash cans in the alley

-No loud noise after 11pm. We get it, we are musicians on the 1st floor so we know sometimes it's hard to not make noise. Please just keep in mind that you are surrounded by other people in the neighborhood and city who may not be on the same schedule as you. We try to hold to a 10am-11pm "loud noise window" to respect our neighbors. Just please keep that in mind.
