The space

Unique 'Tree House' type home set in the ancient forest - Suberb facilities close by, blue flag beaches - adventure - eco living.

Guest access

Guests will have access to most of the house; an open plan kitchen, living room and dining area that opens up onto the deck outside with glass 360 spectacular views over the Tsitsikamma Forest. Downstairs there is the double suite sleeping area with its own bathroom with a bath tub, and separate small outdoor seating area. The upstairs area has an outside bathroom with a shower and loo- this is only a few steps from the main house entrance.

Whilst the house does not have Wi-fi- it has full 3g mobile phone reception and there is wi-fi available at the Pepper Mill Restaurant; a 5 minute drive up the road. Enquire about our special TRIPLE COMBO - Tenikwa WILD CAT encounters, the ELEPHANT sanctuary and OUT TO SEA boat trip. Not to be missed when visiting the area !

I also leave a letter describing recommended restaurants etc in the area.

Interaction with guests

Interaction with guests will be at the start and end of their visit, when the keys are handed over and they are introduced to the house, the area and Kuthumba. I am available on the phone throughout your stay if you have any queries or concerns.

Other things to note

Plettenberg bay is a twenty minutes drive away with its beaches bars and restaurants and beautiful special spaces like Emily Moon, Natures valley and its beach & lagoon is a 15 minute drive away (or a 2 and a half hour hike over the salt river). Whilst monkey land, tenikwa (cat sanctuary) birds of eden and the elephant sanctuary are all a 5-7 minute drive down the road. Not to be missed !!

It is worth noting that the house whilst beautifully equipped and stunning is an unusual non traditional design, with many open plan areas. The house has two dining areas, one inside and one outside, seating up to 8 comfortably. Beautiful Open plan lounge with large couches, and a spectacular view over the forest through glass window panels. Only one bed room in itself is separate from the main living area, situated downstairs with it's own bathroom, double bed and patio areas. The other two rooms comprise of a loft with a single bed and a semi-divided area from the main living space with a double bed. The main toilet and shower area is an outhouse 5 meters from the front door. The kitchen whilst having a full dinner set and cutlery and pots etc, is basic in that it is two gas stoves that are available at present. We are hoping to get a mini oven but this hasn't occurred yet.
7 minutes of the drive to the house is along a dirt road.

The house is therefore for the lovers of nature, the outdoors and the enjoyment of living with luxury items within an unusual setting.

We really felt as if we were getting back to nature as we drove along the dusty road to get to the Tree House. It's set in the beautiful Tsitsikama Nature Reserve and you have the feel of living within the middle of the forest. Everything was as Michele had described, so we were unfazed by the outside bathroom upstairs and the stairs to the lower floor being outside too. The house is unique and full of wonderful curios. It had everything we needed for our 2 night stay and we were more than comfortable lounging on the outsized sofas! It's very well placed for exploring the area and is a calm and tranquil place to be. It is lovely for families, but I would hesitate to suggest very small chidren go as there are many personal items of Michele's that are either delicate or slightly unstable (eg the wonderful wooden statues). Having said that, most kids would love to just run around in the forest and explore.

We had the most incredible stay in Michelle's wonderful house in the Crags. The house its self is absolutely stunning and is situated in a tranquil forest setting. The scenery is beautiful and can be fully enjoyed from the specious balcony. Michelle was a fantastic host giving us excellent recommendations for things to do locally. We went on many incredible walks in the forest and enjoyed the beautiful local beaches. We also spent time enjoying all the animal reserves in the Crags just 5mins drive from the house. We walked with Elephants and Cheetahs and spent time in Monkeyland and the tropical bird sanctuary. There is so much to do around this part of the world and all I can say is I wish we could have stayed longer. I highly recommend staying here! It's a truly magical experience.

We had a beautiful, peaceful and restful stay at Michele's stunning treehouse. Perfect for a weekend but definitely also a week - plenty in the area to do and a perfect location to catch break. Would certainly recommend!

I loved staying at Michele's place in the Crags. I wanted a quiet, secluded retreat... and this magical home was perfect. The stars at night, and the nature all around are inspiring! The house is spacious and clean and comfortable... like a forest cabin but large... peaceful place for a solo traveler like me, but I can totally imagine enjoying the space with a few friends. Each of my three days I enjoyed an outing to nearby natural areas on Michele's recommendations. Her advice was perfect! Michele met me on my arrival and farewell, and she is the nicest person you could meet! Highly recommended!
