The Whale House is only 900' feet from beautiful black pebble Kaohe Beach ( may be denoted as Pebble Beach on a map). There is deep water here with a very nice reef, perfect for scuba and snorkeling!

Kings Trail (hiking) goes along the ocean in both directions.

The locals call this "The Whale House" as it is known for being one of the best locations for seasonal whale watching with it's 180 degree views of the ocean. You can see and hear the whales from the spacious lanai or inside the house!
The large living room also has 180 degree views of the ocean is a wonderful place to practice yoga, dance or just mediate.

lt is a perfect writer, artist retreat and couples get away.

This unique house is in a terraced sub division called Kona Paradise, in a very quite neighborhood, with fantastic star gazing! No street lights!

This centrally located setting (located near mile marker 97 on Highway 11) is 25 miles south of Kona and perfect for exploring Hookena Beach (near mile marker 105).
Famous 2- Step beach and Kealakekua Bay (mile marker 110) (swim with the spinner Dolphins!)
It is about 57 miles to Kilauea Crater (an active volcano located at mile marker 30), with Green sand beach (mile marker 70) and Punalu’u Black Sand Beach, with scads of turtles! (mile marker 55) on the way.

The 850sq ft living room is a very spacious space for painting, reading, writing, yoga, dancing or just relaxing.
A wonderful farmers market on Sundays is nearby for fresh produce, local honey, jams, eggs, local art, fresh coconuts and yummy treats.

Interaction with guests

Leanna and Jed are the caretakers and will be available to answer any questions or provide anything you may need. I am happy to answer any questions by telephone, and will check messages frequently while having quests!!

Other things to note

Kona Paradise is a very quiet neighborhood and I ask that we all respect that too! Noise really travels, so respecting the neighbors is essential.
Hawaii has bugs of all sorts! Please keep the sliding glass doorsscreens closed and the back kitchen door closed, to keep mosquitos out while getting settled! Keep all surfaces clean of food or you will get ants. Don't leave food opened on counter tops as that attracts all sorts of critters.
If mosquitos get into the house, sleep with a fan on or turn on the bathroom night light or light and keep door cracked to attract them to the light.
Geckos make a chirping noise at night!

This was by far our favorite of the three Airbnb's we visited on the Big Island! The Kona Paradise neighborhood is gorgeous, and the pebble beach (about a 2 minute walk from the house) was so neat! The caretakers renting above brought us fresh milk upon arrival, which was much appreciated! The view of the ocean was breathtaking, and the high ceilings of the house were great. We loved sitting on the porch looking at the ocean at sunset watching the lizards play. Definitely recommend if you're staying on the Kona side!

We would completely recommend the Round House. It is very clean and roomy. It has a very good and comfortable feeling about it. It was actually a joy to spend the "flash flood warning" days inside because you could see the beach and the surrounding windows made you still feel like you were experiencing Hawaii. Hope to come visit the Round House again!

This is a wonderful place with ocean view and very close to a nice beach. Inside there is plenty of space and the apartment has all the comforts you need. Leanna and Jeb, who live upstairs, are very friendly and they have helped us with all our questions. The location is somewhat south of Captain Cook in a beautiful, quiet residential area.

This is a great place to stay if you're looking to get off the grid and live like a Big Island local. Bonus points if you're crunchy/hippie/into yoga. It's quite remote and the area has no cell service once you get off the highway, but there is ample wifi in the house. Also, if you think lizards are cool, this is the place for you. Tons of geckos on this property, sunning themselves on the deck and hunting bugs. They are so cute! We will always have fond memories of sunny breakfasts on the deck with our gecko buddies. House is 45-55 minutes south of Kona and a solid 15-20 minutes away from any real services. The road from the highway down to the house is SUPER steep (and I say that as a Seattle resident!), so be aware and be okay with driving cautiously and slowly up and down. The black pebble beach is a 5 min walk downhill and is totally gorgeous and fairly secluded. Hardly saw anyone there whenever we walked down. Very peaceful and serene.

Hello, we are Roslyn and Donny.

Roslyn has lived on Half Moon Bay and the Coastside for over 40 years and loves it.
Originally from Gary Indiana, I have found Paradise by the ocean!
I was a telephone worker for 20 years, climbing telephone phones and working down in manholes. I have been a massage therapist for the last 15 years. I have traveled through Europe, Costa Rica and love exploring The Big Island of Hawaii.
I really enjoy traveling. Hiking and snorkeling are some of my favorite sports! I look forward to sharing the coast and my home of 30 years with you. Donny is an abstract painter and has been in the construction trades for 35 years. He is now a a special project construction liaison. He shares his time between Half Moon Bay and Arizona.
