TREAT YOURSELF TO AN UNFORGETTABLE, LUXURIOUS NIGHT IN THE MIDWEST'S COOLEST LODGE. Or show your loved ones what nirvana should look like. Great year-round for a vacation or one night's escape. Fully-equipped tipi is tucked into the woods, yet only minutes from the hwy. Stars, the smell of a cedar fire (free firewood), crisp sheets, a warm shower, soap & towels, candles & bottle of wine are just bonuses assuring you won't be roughing it. Mystic. Calming. Bring yourself & we'll provide the rest.
The most unique private lodging in the area is filled with personal touches and serves as a great base for romantics, hikers, bikers, divers, bird watchers, winers and diners wanting to explore the natural beauty of the Ozarks.
The tipi is furnished with a queen-size futon, with two additional twin-size cots. Toiletries, towels, pure cotton bedding and lots of pillows provided, as well as an assortment of fresh teas, coffees, grill & utensils, hammocks, indoor (propane) and outdoor fire ring, books, games, local maps, brochures and travel tips are also supplied. In the winter we provide a heat source or two, and a fan in the summer.
The tipi is tucked away in the woods on a 16 acre property where secluded forests envelope the maintained grounds. You will have plenty of solitude and space to hang your headdress, with a grill to cook the day's catch (or the butcher's steak) and hammocks waiting to be swung. Yes, it's true, we supply free firewood, and marshmallows as well.
Plenty of shaded parking available, with enough space for a trailer.
We would like to point out that tipis were designed for use on the sunny, open plains. Since ours is in the shady woods, it will darken with age due to the acid from the trees, and because it doesn't receive the constant supply of sunlight needed to bleach them, like in the old western movies.
Guests are welcome to use the glider by our garden to catch Wi-Fi. They are also welcome to utilize the fridge in a laundry room and in case of less pleasant weather the sun-room, all in the building adjoining their bathhouse.
We also offer additional services such as access to hot tub, fitness and spa, (European standards apply), professional massages, instructional courses, intimate wedding services, vow renewal, etc... all for a fee. These services are for the comfort and convenience of our guests, who are under no obligation to partake.
Interaction with guests
Our guests value their privacy, so we adjust our interaction to meet their needs. We are always available by phone, text or email.
Other things to note
The tipi is in use all year but bear in mind that temperature appropriate clothing is required. Don't show up in winter wearing shorts and expect to be comfortable as it won't happen. Long underwear, caps, gloves and warm jackets are mandatory.
To insure no one ever goes hungry, we offer meal services, too. The meals we provide on request are not exactly cheap (as the price covers visiting various local farms, fetching organic ingredients, carefully preparing food and serving it warm to the doorstep or bed of the tipi, at any time you like). But we promise our meals won't only fill the stomachs, without exception people remember them as some of their best dining experiences ever.
Rule no. 1: UNWIND, RELAX & ENJOY. Reading the entire listing is a must to avoid unrealistic expectations, re-asking what is already explained and leaving a poor rating because you didn't fully understand what you booked. We appreciate finding the place just as we left it for you to enjoy. Please return things to where you found them. Unless your mom is coming, wash, dry and put away your dishes. Clean grill if using it. All fires (including candles) must be monitored and put out prior to leaving the site or falling asleep. We strive to minimize our environmental impact and so should our guests. Wastefulness is not appreciated. RECYCLE. You are welcome to leave recyclable waste but take away your trash. While it's fulfilling to share our serene property, we appreciate peace and quiet to maintain the tranquility. Smoking outdoors only (ashtray provided). Fee for additional guests applies to all ages. Well-behaved, housebroken, groomed, crated pets or those with their own bed are welcome, but are NOT TO BE ON ANY FURNITURE at any time. They're allowed to roam freely, unleashed and explore the surrounding grounds, woods, fields, creek or swim in the river. If you can't control your dog, don't bring it. In case your dog is unable to be around people and other dogs, you'll be asked to leave. $35/pet/stay to ensure the comfort of our pet-allergic guests (payable on arrival). We like people very much, but if you are the type who stresses over a tipi without central air, owls hooting too loudly or who places an inadequate value on this unique accommodation (in order to share it with like-minded people, we've made a huge investment in crafting the tipi deck, bringing electricity to the woods, building & furnishing the bathhouse, installing septic system, etc.), please do us all a favor and book somewhere else. We adore kids and animals but refuse to babysit adults. Everyone with a sense for adventure and appreciation of nature is welcome but we must retain the right to refuse hosting anyone who arrives unprepared and unsuitably dressed for the weather condition. If ever in doubt about anything, ASK. We're always just a click or phone call away. The last rule is to play fair: you relied on the reviews of others, so it's common courtesy you contribute too.
