This apartment had its pros and cons. It is in a great neighborhood, the German colony, with lots of restaurants and shops. It is close to many buses and it has lovely shops. The apartment is a good size and the furnishings are fairly new and adequate. Now to the cons:There is a beautiful tv in the photo with what looks like cable boxes underneath. There is no cable and therefore there is no tv. I know that if you look at the description under 'more', it says no cable, but then don't write TV. Also there was no hair dryer- again it was listed accurately under 'more' but this is the first time in about 20 years of renting that I have been to an apartment or house or hotel without a hair dryer. There is also a dish washer in the house but it still had the packing materials inside and the front of it had not been attached. The refrigerator is small which is OK, but the freezer door would not open because there was so much ice inside. When we requested that our freezer be defrosted, since you could not open the door to put anything inside, we were told that it is easy to do it ourselves. I am not renting for 4 days to spend time defrosting freezers- that should be included in the rather steep clean up fee. Its a nice new apartment in a good neighborhood, but it does not have basic amenities such as one bar of soap in the bathroom- the soap dispenser was empty. It had only one and a third rolls of toilet paper- they should provide at least 2 until you can get to the supermarket. The floor was very uneven and one had to be careful not to trip on the bumps. There were no garbage bags provided- again, something that is in every rental that I have been in. Mordehaiq was reachable when we had to check in, but it was very difficult to open the door and it had to be described several times on the phone before we were able to open the door. There was absolutely no information in the apartment about how appliances worked and since Mordehaiq does not meet you or come to the apartment at all it is necesary to supply adequate information. We had a blackout when we used the oven and stove top at the same time, and the heater was also on. We were not told that one needed to be careful about using too much electricity at once- again that should be covered in a booklet, or by the manager greeting you and explaining the apartment. When we first asked about the TV, he replied he doesn't know about the TV because he is only the manager. I would think it is the managers job to at least know that the TV does not function for lack of cable. All in all, I would not...

We - a family with two children - spent six nights in Mordehaidq’s very nice apartment in the German Colony in Jerusalem. The apartment is situated in a very attractive quarter of Jerusalem (pubs and groceries in the environment) and about 20 walking minutes away from the Jerusalem city (Jaffa gate). Nevertheless it is rather calm there (street noise weak; neighbour noises moderately noticeable). Unfortunately we had some disappointments which reduced the degree of satisfaction significantly. It was very difficult to reach Mordehaidq (the landlord) by email or by mobile phone. This was especially very worrying after our arrival in Jerusalem, when the taxi driver could not find the address of the apartment (the latter was wrongly spelled in the Airbnb homepage). During the following days we identified several deficiencies in the equipment, as: interruption of electrical power supply when cooking/water boiling simultaneously with shower water heating (necessary to take a shower); recovering the el. power supply not possible within the apartment (external fuse on the street); no functional TV; very scarce kitchen equipment and poor lighting in the eating area, a defective toilet seat – and finally the impression of a very superficially cleaned bathroom. Mordehaidq was always friendly and cooperative. He came to help us upon our request, but sometimes he gave us the impression to be very busy and not to have the time required to really bring the apartment in a functional state. Altogether too many inconveniences, which we did not expect for an apartment in the price class we had booked. We liked the apartment itself and felt comfortable there – but a somewhat better equipment quality would be appropriate.

Very lovely, modern, bright and spacious apartment convenient to all of the shops and restaurants in German Colony. The apartment is representative of the pictures posted. Mordehai is a very pleasant and accommodating host and easily reachable when we had questions. Would definitely stay here again.

Mordehai was the most gracious host ever. We loved his spacious apartment in the most charming neighborhood in Jerusalem. The apartment was decorated in a very charming way with all the amenities needed for a wonderful stay. I can't wait to return the Jerusalem and stay at Mordehai's place. Besides the wonderful accommodations we had an issue with our luggage and Mordehai took over my problem like it was his own. I would not have my luggage returned if not for his persistence and help.

Mordehai was so responsive during the entire rental process and when we arrived and had questions. He was a pleasure to deal with. He responded to our emails immediately and worked to rectify whatever issues we raised. When there wasn't an iron or coffee maker, he immediately went out and bought new for us, even patio chairs! Caution: The frig is not full sized, it's dorm size which was not ideal for our month long stay. Mordehai said he was trying to find a bigger one, but did not while we were there. This would be the only reason we wouldn't stay here again. The location couldn't be better (right off Emek Refaim with shops, restaurants, grocery, buses), easy walk to city center or old city and lots of great neighborhoods nearby.

We had a very enjoyable 10-day stay at this bright and airy apartment. Mordehai is an excellent host. He was always available by phone and came quickly to the apartment when we needed some assistance. The apartment is pleasantly decorated as depicted in the photos (though now with the addition of very nice rug in front of the sofa). As our stay included some very hot days, we appreciated the two balconies and many windows, as well as the air conditioning which worked well. We also liked that it has its own entrance from the street, which made it feel very private. And as we were working during the day, we also appreciated the strong and reliable wifi. The location is superb: just off a main street and only a few steps away from grocery stores, restaurants, the First Train Station and railway path, public transportation. It is a short walk to a new movie theatre, and a 20 minute walk to the Old City and the centre of town. We recommend it very highly.
