About this listing
True inner-West warehouse living at its quirky best! A huge space with lots of light, 6m high ceilings, beautifully furnished with an amazing industrial kitchen. 3min walk to St Peter's station, Sydney Park, and 5mins to vibrant King St, Newtown.
Welcome to the Inner-West dream! A fantastic open plan converted warehouse space, with lots of original character alongside modern conveniences like hi-speed wifi, 55" flatscreen, wireless sound system, and fully set up kitchen with industrial oven.
The bedroom, living space, huge work desk and kitchen all exist in the one 150m2 space, with concrete floors and raised wooden platforms. Beautiful outside bathroom with rain shower and skylight - *probably* the best shower in Sydney.
The space is also a functional photography studio, so there is a white cyc wall in one corner - great for projecting movies onto, but otherwise not of much relevance for your stay.
We will arrange for a key drop either in person or through a key safe system, depending on what your travel arrangements are.
There is a separate space upstairs - fully self contained, but with a shared doorway to the building - that may be occupied during your stay (with long term renters, not airbnb guests). There is still total privacy, and there is no need for our upstairs friends to ever enter your downstairs home.
Interaction with guests
We will be available for contact via email/phone, but generally we won't be able to meet you. If you need any assistance on the ground, our friends in the upstairs apartment will be able to help you out and answer any questions you might have.
Less than 5 minutes walk to Newtown's famous King St, home of too many fantastic cafes, restaurants and bars to name. For those in need of a caffeine hit first thing, the Little Marionette roasters is directly across the road, serving up the best coffee in Newtown with lots of smiles. (Mon-Fri only)
Newtown is also the undisputed queen of second hand/antique shops in inner Sydney, so it's perfect for having a leisurely afternoon of bargain rummaging.
We're at the South end of King St, which is much quieter than the city end, but still vibrant and full of life.
Sydney Park (home of the iconic smoke stacks) is just 200m away, so you have easy access to its rolling hills, cycle paths and bbq/picnic areas, plus playgrounds for the littlies.
3 min walk to St Peters train station, which is on the city circle line with trains every 10 mins during peak times. Only 2 stops from Central!
A 10-15 min cab ride from the airport (depending on traffic), so its super easy to access if you're flying in/out.
Other things to note
This is a true converted warehouse, with many of the quirks and personality that come with this kind of building. Whilst the space is comfortable, clean and beautifully furnished, it's important to note that this is not five star living. Specifically, there is no heating or cooling system - we provide plenty of bedding and a portable heater when its a bit cooler, and a large fan when it heats up - but the size of the space unfortunately means that anything else is impractical. So, if its particularly hot or particularly cold during your stay, you can expect to feel it.
Aesthetically, the building retains most of its original structures - heavy wooden beams, concrete floors, cracked brick walls, uneven paint jobs etc. We absolutely love this, but it's definitely not for everyone so please take this into account when considering your booking.
Strictly NO parties, and other functions/workshops only by arrangement (extra fees apply).
Use of the photo studio is not included in airbnb hire - please contact directly for photo/film/TV shoots.
Please respect how hard it is to keep an open studio cyc wall white, and don't walk on it unnecessarily.
Smoking outside only.
Pets considered by arrangement.
Cancel up to 7 days before your trip and get a 50% refund plus service fees back.
Hi! My name is Kyra, I'm 28 and I live in Sydney, Australia. I'm an animator, so I love being surrounded by other arty people or just those with an interesting take on the world. When I'm not hanging out in Sydney with my boyfriend I love travelling, and have been lucky enough to live in Cambodia for the last few years as well as visiting lots of different places in Asia and America.
