Interaction with guests
We always enjoy meeting people when they first arrive, but want you to know that you will have complete privacy during your stay with us. We will be available to help if needed. You will be provided with a unique entry code to unlock the door so you don't have to worry about getting or returning keys.
This is somewhat of an old-fashioned, quiet neighborhood with older homes and large trees. We are located on a dead-end street which means there is very little-to-no traffic.
You will have access to the right side of the driveway.
Please be careful of the large pine tree on the side of the driveway, both when you enter and especially when backing out. It can be very narrow between the tree and other cars parked in the driveway. Nobody has ever hit the tree in the 25+ years we've lived here, but we don't want you to be the first. LOL. Just wanted to warn you that it can be somewhat narrow when other cars are present . We are planning to widen the driveway in the near future to eliminate this issue.
We are located just two minutes from Interstate 64/264 interchange which means you can reach any location in the Hampton Roads area very quickly and conveniently. The Virginia Beachfront is 20 minutes down I 264
We are also within walking distance (two blocks) of the "Tide" light rail public transportation with service into downtown Norfolk locations.
To downtown Norfolk = 10 minutes.
To downtown Virginia Beach (Town Center) = 10 minutes.
To Virginia Beach Oceanfront = 20 minutes.
To Historic Williamsburg= 60 minutes
Other things to note
You are free to hang out around the cottage or just use it as a place to relax and sleep after you explore some of the many local attractions.
We hope that you will take care of everything as if it were your own.
We live in a quiet neighborhood and ask that you keep noise levels to a moderate level, especially after 10:00 p.m. The cottage is a completely separate building so you should be able to play music as loud as you want without disturbing the neighbors. (Within reason, of course. LOL)
Please turn off the inside lights when you're leaving the house for any length of time and please make sure the door is locked. (It should lock automatically.) Keep the front outdoor light switched "on." It is connected to a motion detector and will come on automatically as you approach the front door.
I know we don't have to say this, but please don't steal anything. :) If you accidentally break something, just let us know. If you make a huge mess, please clean it Just normal life stuff. We have been blessed to have a lot of amazing people come into out lives. We want you be feel like friends and family while you're here. (The "good" kind. LOL)
Smoking and burning candles inside the cottage is not permitted.
Sorry, no pets are allowed. Too many of our friends struggle with allergies.
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund, including service fees.
Lisa and I have been married for 33 years and have raised four amazing children who continue to bless our lives.
We have always loved travel and adventure. We first met while working at the Grand Canyon in Arizona and have continued to make travel and adventure a priority in our lives. For the last few years, we have been able to travel around the world working with young people through an organization called the World Race, where young men and women travel to 11 different countries in 11 months to help local missionaries and non-profit organizations.
We understand how important it is to have a comfortable place where you can just kick back and relax, especially when you're away from home. We hope your stay here will be refreshing and enjoyable.
We look forward to meeting you.
