Every window of our sun-filled, open-concept house looks out on towering maple trees. There are two bedrooms (one with a double bed, another with a queen bed), each with private bathroom. Brattleboro's food and entertainment is a 5 min. drive. Hiking, biking or snowshoe, ski trails outside door. Fantastic swimming holes a short drive. EV (Electric Vehicle charging @)

The space

The house is built on a diagonal floor plan, with a modern feel, exposed beams overhead and floor to ceiling windows showcasing views of gardens, surrounding fields and forests. There are two bedrooms available for your use; one located on the first floor with adjoining private bath and a second upstairs with bathroom close by. Combining various time periods in its decorations, the house features a Victorian mantle piece, a 50s-era diner booth, and refurbished sinks and vintage tubs. Our home has radiant heat in the floors and a wood stove, a focal point in the living room during chillier months.

Guest access

Guests have access to all areas of kitchen, living and dining rooms in addition to their bedrooms and bathrooms. Washer and dryer in basement can also be used 1-2 times a week. We ask that our guests do not access the owner's bedroom on the 3rd floor (vacant).

Interaction with guests

We will leave you complete directions and will be available to answer questions by telephone during your stay. A neighbor will also be available to help you if needed.

Other things to note

We have Electric Vehicle charging available for guests at no additional charge and guests may park in the garage. We have a long-term tenant, Pete, who lives in the basement apartment on the premises, with a separate entrance and parking area from yours. It is highly unlikely you will cross paths during your stay but he can be helpful in an emergency and is a layer of security for our property. In the winter the road and driveway to the house is kept clear of snow through a private snowplow contract and regular sanding. During a snow storm, a four wheel drive vehicle is recommended, though not always essential.

We had a great time at Brian and Nanci's house. It's a great location - just a few miles from downtown Brattleboro and interstate 91. The house is very nice, and would easily accommodate 4 adults. Brian and Nanci were proactive hosts, and maintained appropriate communication throughout our stay. The house was overall very clean. For a house with full time residents, they do a good job making space in the fridge and pantry for visitors.

The hosts did a great job of making sure we had all the necessary info when we arrived. They did a great job of leaving little notes around the house that answered any questions that came up (what to do with recycling, could we use the spices, etc.) The house was beautiful and comfortable. It was relaxing and peaceful stay, we would definitely recommend it!

Response from Brian & Nanci:
We were sorry to cancel these guests but we had made a mistake in booking and the entire house wasn't available the dates that they had requested.Hopefully we'll have the opportunity to host them another trip!

The place was just better than the listing. Brian and Nanci were not here to welcome us but they were always at reach and organized the assistance of neighbors and friends to make sure that we were ok. The place is full of light and yet warm and cosy with lost of small hikes around. We felt at home during our extended stay.

Response from Brian & Nanci:
We reluctantly had to cancel Diana's reservation only because she planned to arrive late and we had another guest that we didn't want to disturb at a very late hour. Brian & Nanci

My two friends and I spent one night (on our road trip through the New England states) but wished we had stayed longer. We stayed in their daughter's room upstairs, which was slightly small for all three of us but Nanci's hospitality and thoughtfulness made our stay very special. Upon arrival, we were offered tea and brownies and despite being late Nanci offered detailed suggestions on possible things to explore in the area. We woke up to a handwritten note and delicious blueberry jam, that only added to our happiness as we enjoyed a quiet morning in the living room looking out at the lovely autumn foliage. This is a perfect location and home for someone looking for an authentic experience.

We came to Vermont for graduate school and never left! We've lived here for 20+ years and look forward to sharing our love of the area with you. Brian hails from the Midwest and Nanci is from the San Francisco Bay Area. We've stayed with Airbnb ourselves in the US and abroad and thought we'd give hosting a try. Brian is a training and facilitator consultant and Nanci works in fundraising and communications in the nonprofit sector. We've lived abroad and enjoy meeting new people. We can give you tips on the art and food scene in Brattleboro; and places to hike, kayak, swim, ski, etc. in the surrounding area, if desired.
