Every window of our sun-filled, open-concept house looks out on towering maple trees. There are two bedrooms (one with a double bed, another with a queen bed), each with private bathroom. Brattleboro's food and entertainment is a 5 min. drive. Hiking, biking or snowshoe, ski trails outside door. Fantastic swimming holes a short drive. EV (Electric Vehicle charging @)
The house is built on a diagonal floor plan, with a modern feel, exposed beams overhead and floor to ceiling windows showcasing views of gardens, surrounding fields and forests. There are two bedrooms available for your use; one located on the first floor with adjoining private bath and a second upstairs with bathroom close by. Combining various time periods in its decorations, the house features a Victorian mantle piece, a 50s-era diner booth, and refurbished sinks and vintage tubs. Our home has radiant heat in the floors and a wood stove, a focal point in the living room during chillier months.
Guests have access to all areas of kitchen, living and dining rooms in addition to their bedrooms and bathrooms. Washer and dryer in basement can also be used 1-2 times a week. We ask that our guests do not access the owner's bedroom on the 3rd floor (vacant).
Interaction with guests
We will leave you complete directions and will be available to answer questions by telephone during your stay. A neighbor will also be available to help you if needed.
Other things to note
We have Electric Vehicle charging available for guests at no additional charge and guests may park in the garage. We have a long-term tenant, Pete, who lives in the basement apartment on the premises, with a separate entrance and parking area from yours. It is highly unlikely you will cross paths during your stay but he can be helpful in an emergency and is a layer of security for our property. In the winter the road and driveway to the house is kept clear of snow through a private snowplow contract and regular sanding. During a snow storm, a four wheel drive vehicle is recommended, though not always essential.
No pets or smoking in the house is allowed. No parties. We expect guest to remove their shoes at the front door to avoid tracking in dirt from the outside. Please be courteous of resident in first floor apartment (separate entrance). Paying guests only unless approval requested. If you have children that may damage items, please move them out of reach.

We came to Vermont for graduate school and never left! We've lived here for 20+ years and look forward to sharing our love of the area with you. Brian hails from the Midwest and Nanci is from the San Francisco Bay Area. We've stayed with Airbnb ourselves in the US and abroad and thought we'd give hosting a try. Brian is a training and facilitator consultant and Nanci works in fundraising and communications in the nonprofit sector. We've lived abroad and enjoy meeting new people. We can give you tips on the art and food scene in Brattleboro; and places to hike, kayak, swim, ski, etc. in the surrounding area, if desired.
