You are welcome to share a quirky and welcoming Liberties redbrick home with me and my tenacious & friendly terrier Boombox.

I love living in the Liberties. Its a place where there is real heart. Christchurch, St Patricks Cathedral and the Guinness Storehouse are on your doorstep. Discover Dublin on your doorstep.

The space

This is a SMALL attic space with a sloped ceiling and futon bed. That means it isnt for everyone; especially if you are tall/claustrophobic (from guest feedback)-this is not a full height room. However what you get in exchange is a city centre location with historic Dublin on your doorstep. And for some the attic is their perfect nest like retreat.

This all depends on what is right for YOU-Please read the description carefully before requesting to book.

The space might suit you if.....

-You embrace small spaces. The maximum height of the attic is 5ft 7 inches (that is 1.7m) and the ceilings slope downwards. Bear in mind this means that you might not have the same freedom you have in your room at home .Think about what its like to get dressed/stand up in a room that isnt full height. And that includes that you might knock your head against the wood beams-it happens to me!

-You are happy to use your suitcase as storage. You are welcome to use the space as you wish to unpack but at present I have 4 hangers and a small shelving unit. I can also set up a space on the landing for your suitcase but you must ask me for this when you arrive as I have to change the area around a little. But it can be done.

-You see climbing 2 spiral/quirky staircases as good cardio. If you find climbing stairs uncomfortable or have mobility issues this wont be the space for you unfortunately.

-You are not bothered by the water feature in the attic a.k.a. the water tank. I get up early most mornings to walk the dog and particularly early for work which can include Saturdays and Sundays. Which means all the normal morning uses; shower/toilet etc. will create the sound of trickling water in the attic. If this will bother you, best not book with me.

What extras do I keep in the attic for you? (apart from towels/linens etc.)
-An electric blanket to keep you snug in the winter. Please ask if you need it as I take it off in warmer weather.
-A heater so you can warm up the attic without running downstairs to turn on the heating
-1 universal adapter to plug in your electical item
-1 mobile phone charger that can charge an iphone 4, an iphone 5 or an android (but only one at a time)
-a hairdryer
-maps and books
-disposable ponchos

Would my home suit you?

You are choosing an old home. I keep my home as best I can however no amount of scrubbing will make the stained pine floors unstained. Or the white wood floors more than off-white. There is a problem with the paint on the wall downstairs. If you don't believe that everything has to be perfect all the time, this is the space for you.

I have quirky taste as you can see from the photos. There is taxidermy. There is lots of religious iconography. The bathroom is where I store my collection of vintage pharmacy items.

Please dont book if you dont like dogs. Because chances are Boombox will really like you!

If this is your dream, myself and Boombox welcome you.

Guest access

Guests have full access to my kitchen, living room and bathroom.

The only caveat I have is around using the stove in the living room. Guests are not allowed to use the stove. There are a few specifics around it that are important. If you have interest in using the stove, please ask and we can take it from there.

Kitchen & Living Room
Regarding food I would like you to know that, with discretion, you are welcome to the food in my fridge and cupboards. Dont go hungry but as much as possible stick to the shared food; you will find stickers in the cupboard and the fridge. Please don't be afraid to use up what is there or finish something that is near the end.

For breakfast you will find cereal in the cupboards, frozen bagels in the freezer (pop them in the toaster) and yogurts/orange juice/milk in the fridge. This is for you to enjoy.

The food that I dont share is kept in the bottom two drawers of the fridge. You will see my name written on the shelf.

There is space in the cupboard for you to store a small amount of your own food. You will see the space there for you.

There is space in the fridge and freezer for you to put your perishable goods. You will see the shelves marked "guest" and shared.

Bathroom
Please feel free to use the shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothpaste and moisturiser that is in the bathroom.

If you would like to take a bath, you will need to let me know so I can heat up the water for you.

The 3rd drawer down in the white wicker drawers has toothbrushes, razors and other bits and pieces you may have forgotten. Take a look at the middle shelf to the right of the bath. You may find some items you forgot to bring from home-please help yourself.

Interaction with guests

I am the kind of host who is delighted to have you stay and share my home and my knowledge of Dublin. I am also a host who has their own things going on. This can mean that we may not cross paths much during your stay-this isn't unusual. The guests who appear to get the most from staying in my home are those that are themselves quite independent. They are happy to explore Dublin on their own but value the snippets of insider knowledge I'm able to provide.

Dublin is a great city and with a bit of inside knowledge you'll get to embrace the best bits that us Dubliners thrive on. I love when guests ask me about Dublin and give me feedback about their experiences.

Although this is a room in a shared house it does not mean I will be in the house 365 days a year. Please bear this in mind if you expect I will be at home every day/night of your stay. This house would best suit someone who welcomes either my presence or absence, knowing that wherever I am I will do my utmost to make sure you are taken care of.

When I am in the house I am available to you. If you need anything just knock on my door. Or you can always message me on Airbnb.
If not urgent I suggest that any queries are put on hold between 9pm and 8am. However if an emergency arises, please feel free to contact me immediately. I leave this to your discretion.

Other things to note

Wifi access best at the front of the house. If you experience difficulties try moving where you are to see if that works.

If there are problems with the wifi let me know as I have access to the box.

Please read thoroughly the rules below before booking. If they don't work for you, that is perfectly OK, but this won't be the best place for you to stay.

If you have chosen to book with Airbnb you are choosing to share my space with me. And with that comes some responsibilities on your behalf. I try to be as fair as possible but if I do need to remind you of any of the things below, please take it in good faith, it is only because I have learned what I need in order to continue hosting Airbnb guests on an ongoing basis. This comes from my own experience.
It goes both ways and if there is something I can do to help improve your stay, please let me know.

1. THE DRAINS
The drains are not in good condition.
It doesn't take much to block them.
It also doesn't take much to not block them.
Please pay attention to my requests-I will also mention it to you on or before you arrive. IF THIS DOESNT WORK FOR YOU PLEASE DONT BOOK WITH ME.

Under no circumstances can you put anything down the BATHROOM AND KITCHEN DRAINS other than what absolutely needs to go down there;
BATHROOM: toilet paper only
KITCHEN: all food waste in the bin, no exceptions

In the Bathroom.
DO NOT PUT THESE DOWN THE TOILET PUT THEM IN THE BIN.
YES THERE IS A BIN FOR THESE:
-MAKEUP WIPES OF ANY KIND
-BABY WIPES
-WET TOILET PAPER
-ANYTHING THAT SAYS IT DEGRADES OR ITS FLUSHABLE...BECAUSE IT WILL BLOCK THE DRAINS
-CONDOMS
-TAMPONS
-SANITARY TOWELS

In the kitchen;
DO NOT PUT THESE DOWN THE KITCHEN DRAIN. USE THE BIN
-OIL/FATS/GREASE IF YOU'RE COOKING
-FOOD THAT IS LEFT BEHIND IN THE SINK AFTER WASHING DISHES
-COFFEE GRINDS IF YOU ARE MAKING FRESH COFFEE

2. You are very welcome to use the communal spaces and leave them as much as possible how you find them. This mostly applies to the kitchen.

I expect guests to clean their dishes and cutlery. Please dry and return dishes and utensils to where you find them or alternatively allow them to dry on the drying rack leaving space for other dishes. You can follow my lead with this one. I leave my dishes to dry and often will put away whats dry whether I washed it or not.

3. CLOSE the trapdoor at night. This reduces the light and noise you will experience when I am up early in the morning. And also allows me not to worry about waking you.

Be considerate around noise after about 11pm including loud conversations. I do my best to do the same in the morning.

4. No socks on the staircase. Its slippy. And dangerous. It is ok to wear shoes in my home.

5. If you turned it on-please turn it off.
This means lights, electrical items, the heater and electrical blanket in your room and the central heating.

6. Security
Please double lock the front door when you leave and when you have returned home. Close the back door if you have opened it and close the attic window (during the summer).

7. Recycling
Please wash first and then recycle paper/plastic/tin in the cupboard under the sink. Leave the glass out and Ill sort that out.

8. Nobody other than guests registered with Airbnb are allowed in my home. If you bring an unregistered guest to my home you may be asked to register them with Airbnb. A fee will apply. Alternatively you may be asked to leave. Please discuss with me directly.
This does not apply to guests who discuss changes to booking or other requests in advance.

9.If there is something you need that is impacting on your stay, no matter how small, just ask.

10. Boombox-the dog.
Most guests comment on how quiet she is. If I am not at home she is generally in my room asleep. This is where she feels safest.
The dog walker is collects and returns her every Wednesday. Boombox will be in the living room for the day. There is a porch door; please keep this closed. This means she can't accidentally slip outside if you are going out.

11. Due to damage done to the flat roof by a previous Airbnb guest, which has just been repaired, anyone who makes their way onto the flat roof will be asked to leave. It is extremely unsafe.

11. Check out is 11am. Later check outs must be discussed in advance.

12. Please read through the specifications of my listing carefully before booking with me.

13. I don't guarantee to be in the house 365 days a year. Although I am here a lot, if you are the type of person who needs this as a condition of booking either check with me in advance or don't book with me. It is important for me to be able to leave you in my home and feel that this won't totally freak you out.

You must also acknowledge
Must climb stairs - You will have two staircases to climb. The one up to the attic is modular;you have to walk up with alternating steps. The other is a spiral staircase
Potential for noise - Mornings: bell from the boys school (9am). Other than that there aren't any regular sources of noise. And the area tends to be very quiet for town
Pet(s) live on property - Boombox the dog
Some spaces are shared - Kitchen, living space and bathroom shared.

Anne Marie's home was so lovely and comfortable, perfect for quiet evenings after long days of work. Her dog Boombox is an absolute pleasure and Anne Marie was very helpful in helping me find my way around and offering tips and tricks. Would highly recommend for personal and business travel.

Anne was by far the best stay that I've ever had! She was kind, thoughtful, and very helpful for our stay. She was very friendly and provided us with places to go in a booklet she made, which was cute. The home is centrally located in Dublin, with everything just a walk away. The room was very cozy and comfortable. I would love to return in the future!

I loved staying at Anne Marie's place. The place is exactly as described and as the photos depict. Anne Marie was very communicative, it felt like staying with a friend. I picked up her keys from a nearby coffee shop, and she covered my coffee. She also gave me a welcome gift with some snacks. Her place is beautiful, very unique, walkable to all nearby Dublin attractions, and safe. I definitely recommend her place, and would stay here again.

Anne Marie was the best host! She was very helpful and gave us great suggestions about seeing the best of Dublin. The room was small, but very quaint. The location was perfect for walking everywhere. I would definitely recommend her place.

The photos don't do the place justice - Anne Marie's house is lovely and has so much personality. I had pretty bad weather during my stay, and the room was super cosy. The house is well equipped and comfortable, and Anne Marie has stocked it with everything a forgetful traveller could need, from adaptors to umbrellas. It's also really close to a lot of great areas and attractions - I walked everywhere very easily. Anne Marie is very easy going and simple to deal with as a house mate, it was a pleasure! Thanks Anne Marie!

Anne Marie User ProfileAnne Marie is a superhost.

I've had itchy feet in the past travelling and working in many different countries; from East Timor to California and everything in between. I spent 6 months in Honduras working and training to be a dive master. The kind of travelling I love the most now is settling in places for a while; getting familiar with people and the location. After my last big trip in 2008 I returned home to Dublin and my creative adventures began. Besides my day job as a pharmacist I also DJ and make headpieces. And thats where the adventures continue today. And I can travel vicariously through the visitors who come and stay with me on AirBnB-perfect :)
