Welcome to our Smoky Mountain Den! Hummingbird Holler is a fully furnished private apartment in a beautiful mountain setting. Wildlife is nearby, sometimes just outside the window. You'll enjoy peaceful surroundings & a quaint and comfy getaway here.

The space

Our newly built apartment has all of the comforts of home, including a full size-bed (a double), a kitchen, bathroom, an electric fireplace and a private screened in porch. There is a TV with DVDs to watch, but no cable or local stations are available. Our sleepy neighborhood is nestled in Wears valley. You will be refreshed by our misty mornings and our big starry skies. After a fun day of adventure or a quiet day of rest, you can sit around the outdoor fire pit and listen to the crickets chirp. Smores are encouraged!

Guest access

We live above you on the second and third levels of the home. The apartment is on the first level. You will have a combo lock for the doors and there is covered parking available. The fire pit is shared with us and possibly other travelers, but the apartment and its screened in space are all yours. There are no crazy elevation changes or steep hills on the drive in. Also, there are no elevation changes on foot to your room (no stairs to negotiate).

Interaction with guests

We will give you all the privacy you would like, but of course we are available to answer questions, guide your adventures, give driving directions or whatever else you need. We will let you in on some local secrets, including an entrance to Smoky Mountain National Park, shortcuts and fun attractions.

Other things to note

The nearest airport is in Knoxville and is about a 45 minute drive. We are located near bustling Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge if you are looking for some city action. We are five minutes from the little known North entrance to the Smoky Mountain National Park that brings you to the Metcalf Bottoms picnic area. A "T" at the end of the picnic area will take you to either Gatlinburg, "The Sinks Waterfalls, Cades Cove, or Townsend, TN. Although we don't have cable tv or internet, there is a General Store up the street with free Wi-Fi if you need to check business, ESPN, email or social media.

Jennifer and Bob provided a clean, pleasant place to stay for our weekend getaway! It was beautiful and although I didn't meet Jennifer, Bob was fabulous and helpful when it came to places to visit and eat. I highly recommend hummingbird holler.

Jennifer is a friendly and welcoming host. This property is in a peaceful setting about a half hour from the Smokies and major food options (very reasonable). The space is pleasant and clean.

Jennie and Bob were some of the best hosts I've ever experienced!! They offered great advice about what to do in town, where to hike, and where to eat! We took most of their restaurant recommendations and they did not disappoint. They even helped us out getting our fire going in the fire pit by offering us a fire starter. Super kind. Staying at Hummingbird Holler for 2 nights felt like a week on vacation!

Great place 15 minutes to an entrance to the GSMNP. Jennifer and Bob were very welcoming and friendly. I would stay again if I am exploring the northeast side of the park. I got to spend time away from city life and avoided the traffic and saturation of tourists in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg!

This is ideal if you want to be within 10 minutes of the National Park without getting clustered up in the main traffic from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge along 441. You can literally avoid all that tourist nonsense and just get in and out of the park, and you're very close to the Cade's Cove Loop, Elkmont, and other central and western areas of the park. The apartment is really awesome! perfect for a couple on a romantic getaway. Bob built the place with his own hands. An experienced engineer, he overbuilt it and it's very solid and feels cozy and safe. I can't say enough of how great it is to avoid the mess of the "main drag" traffic along PF and Gburg. This is very reasonable and ideal for those looking to enjoy the natural beauty of this area.

Jennifer User ProfileJennifer is a superhost.

After living 29 years in beautiful south Florida, my husband (Bob) and I have established a new residence in the hills of Tennessee.
Life has a much slower pace. We enjoy sitting on the front porch looking at the beautiful Smoky Mountain range and watching the clouds roll by.
We have settled in the Wears Valley area where our home is peaceful yet in minutes we can engage in the hustle and bustle of Pigeon Forge.
Bob is an engineer and musician who loves to build (he built our home ). I enjoy volunteering, socializing and star gazing.
