My two friends and I rented both of Julie's casitas for a short stay and were very happy. The spaces are really cute and spacious--much more so than they appear in photos. Town was an super short drive/easy bike ride away (Julie provides equally cute cruiser bikes to use.) Communication and price was excellent. We especially appreciated the very good coffee, cream, coconut milk and topo chicos in the fridge.

We rented both sides of La Luna Casitas for four nights in March to explore Marfa and surrounding West Texas, including trips to Big Bend and the McDonald Observatory. We had one family with two kids in the west unit and two adults in the east unit. Marfa was a good home base for our travels and the Casitas were perfect to come home to in the evenings. We enjoyed eating breakfasts and dinners on the shared patio. We used the microwave and stove top to prepare our meals and found the kitchens adequately stocked with stovetop cookware and table settings for our party of 6. Guests should keep in mind that neither unit has an oven, though the large toaster oven in the east unit worked great for baking smaller items like rolls. We brought most of our own food, but found the local grocery store, The Get Go, well stocked. There are several fine eateries in Marfa and nearby Alpine. Guests should check opening/closing times since a lot of these places keep small town hours. We ordered our pizzas from The Pizza Foundation hours in advance. The wait for walk-ups was 2 hours! The pizza was worth the wait. Both units were clean and nicely appointed, as were the patio and parking areas. The host was very friendly and responsive to our needs. I would recommend either of the casitas.

El Sol y La Luna Casitas were perfect! Honestly, they are just so much better than the pictures could even convey. I stayed in El Sol and it was as charming as could be and the coffee, Topo Chico, and shower supplied were very much appreciated! Our friends stayed in La Luna and it was great as well however it didn't have a dedicated heating unit (just radiators) and the hot water had an issue so since it was quite cold out those were an annoyance to them. Overall I'd highly recommend these units to anybody wanting to stay in Marfa. It's literally right across the street from the liquor store and it's just a short 10-15 minute walk to the town center. We never got the opportunity to meet Julie but she checked in with us via e-mail and had everything set up perfectly so there was never a need to reach out to her. She prepared this wonderful welcome book that really helped since it was our first trip to Marfa. We hope to be back next year!

I left the big city of Austin, Texas over 4 years ago for Marfa and haven't looked back. I love the big sky, the quiet beauty, and the wonderful community of people here.
I enjoy live music, gardening, movies, coffee, and guest dj'ing on the local NPR station.
