About this listing
This bright and sunny renovated 1910 New Englander is just steps from the Greenbelt Walkway - walk to lighthouses, beach, parks, bakery, yoga studio, ice cream shop, restaurants and Portland's only a short drive or bike over the bridge.
My house is a renovated 1910 New Englander with lots of windows and light throughout. The house is small and cute: an open living room with hardwood floors, a kitchen with stainless appliances, cooking supplies and clothes washer/dryer, a downstairs bathroom and two little bedrooms upstairs. I love small spaces and hope you do too. The whole house is 720 s.f. The first guest bedroom has a queen bed, side tables, lighting and a closet for clothing - simple, bright and clean. The second bedroom is smaller with a queen bed and one side table. I should note that the stairs to the guest bedrooms are steep and narrow - fine for most people but perhaps challenging for folks with limited mobility. There's also a blow-up mattress for an extra guest if needed.
I have a small garden and big yard for frisbee tossing.
Guests should feel like this is their home and will have access to the whole house and yard. I'll give you key sets upon arrival.
Interaction with guests
This is really based on what the guest prefers: when guests are renting the whole house I'm always nearby if there's an issue or question but I'll give you your space. I'm happy to orient and give advice on all the great scenery, bars, eats, etc. that Portland has to offer. I've lived here for most of my life so have lots of local knowledge to share.
I live in Ferry Village, named because the ferry used to run from here to Portland across the harbor before the bridge. It's a cute, friendly neighborhood with lots of families and kids and a nice playground down the street. The Greenbelt Walkway crosses right by my house and it's a short walk (about 10 minutes) to Bug Light Park, Spring Point Breakwater and Lighthouse, and Willard Beach. I'm about a mile from Portland Headlight and Fort Williams Park. It's a short walk to the Willard Beach neighborhood and Scratch Bakery, Willard Scoops Ice Cream, a yoga studio, restaurants and more. By car it's 5 minutes to Portland, and there's a bus stop right near the house. You can also bike the Greenbelt to Portland. If you're a surfer, it's about 15 minutes to Higgins or Scarborough Beach. I can give you info on where to rent boards and wetsuits.
If you bring your bike we can store it in my garage. I also have a spare you can use. There's a bus stop right by my house, and it's really easy to walk, bike or drive to Portland or beaches. There's plenty of driveway space for cars.

I'm a woodworker, swing dancer, sailor and surfer who loves the outdoors and meeting new, interesting people. I just bought this home (my first) a few months ago and look forward to sharing it.
