Our charming forest bungalow is a block off the bustling S Lamar drag, and a 5 minute ride-share from downtown. Though in the middle of the city, home means sitting on the porch watching fire flies and listening to the train roll by. One roommate is a potter, the other keeps bees and paints, and we couldn't be more excited for you to experience our curated South Austin paradise.

Our two bedroom bungalow sleeps 4 comfortably, though we can easily sleep 6 or 7 in the SXSW crunch

The space

Our two bedroom bungalow sleeps 4 comfortably, though we can easily sleep 6 or 7 in the ACL crunch. We're close to everything that makes south Austin America's best neighborhood...a 5 minute walk from Alamo draft house and Ramen Tatsu Ya, a 20 minute walk from S Congress, and a 20 minute from ACL (zilker park) and Barton Springs. For SXSW attendees, we're a 5 minute ride share or 30 minute walk from the heart of downtown.

We're nestled on a dead end, in the heart of the Bouldin creek greenbelt. The house sits next to a stream, a red tailed hawk lives in our backyard, and we occasionally are visited by the owl that lives across the street.

The house is classic Austin. The living room and kitchen are a single room. Both bedrooms sit to the side. The Jack-n-Jill style bathroom sits between the bedrooms. If you need to do laundry our washer and dryer are yours. The stove and fridge, thankfully, are less classic than the house, meaning you can cook and store your food in comfort. The house is full of art we've made, and art we've collected from around the world. Afghan rugs, Spanish wall hangings, Burmese Paintings and resident made ceramics are just a taste of what the house holds. If you'd like, we're happy to stop by and give you a tour of the back-yard beehive or a quick lesson on the pottery wheel.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the shared bathroom (it connects the two bedrooms), fully equipped kitchen, living room, standing bar, front porch, back yard, safe parking and BBQ pit.

Interaction with guests

The house will be yours while you are here, though we may occasionally stop by the art studio in the back yard or check on the garden or bees. However, we won't come in the house, and wouldn't swing by the property without first letting you know.

If you're interested in hanging with us or our friends, that can happen too.

House Rules
Not suitable for pets
No parties or events
Check in time is flexible

We want house guests to enjoy and relax as if it were their own home away from home. This of course means that you would also respect our home as you would your own. Hanging out for drinks and music in the evening is encouraged, but inviting all of your friends from SXSW back to the house for a late night after party is suboptimal. We're laid back and easy going in a typical austin manner, but expect certain boundaries to be respected. Smoking is okay outside in the backyard or on porch, but cigarette buts should be disposed of, trashcans used, etc.

Tara and Scott were great hosts. They provided us an awesome welcome guide with everything we needed to know. The place is very authentic and quiet, we had a good time in Austin.

Tara was an absolutely perfect host. The house is in a great location in the middle of everything and has excellent charm and personality. Tara herself helped us out in more ways than one and was an extremely welcoming and friendly person, answering all of our questions and showing us quick walking paths to get around the neighborhood. Overall, our experience here was fantastic. Highly recommended!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Tara's place and the proximity to Zilker Park during ACL. We walked to the festival grounds every day and to many restaurants around the area. At the same time, her place was tucked away from the traffic in a street across the greenbelt, which made it more private and convenient for parking our cars. Tara was very prompt on her replies and super flexible with checking in/out process. Would love to stay here again!

The listing was accurate. Great place to stay. I stayed in what is Tara's room while she was away. Her roommate was very hospitable.

Although I didn't meet Tara in person she was super accommodating even with my re-schedule and the place was like advertised. The house was in a wonderful location right by the green belt and close enough to downtown without all the traffic and the noice

Tara was a great host; even though she wasn't at home, she was in contact all the time we needed. His roommate Scott is very kind. They made us feel we were at home!! Thank you very much, chicos! The house is amazing: cozy, clean, and in the very heart of central Austin, where all the cool things are.

I am from South Texas, Gulf country, but live in Austin. I have lived in many places and have traveled extensively and love the idea of sharing spaces to make travel and living more personable and communicative. I am very laid back, love the water more than anything, and have an every growing curiosity and sense of exploration.
