This historic home is located within walking distance to some of Denver's best restaurants, bars and shops. The entire basement is available in this home to accommodate up to 5 people with private entrance.
The basement includes a large open room, approx 500 sq feet and a bathroom. There is a queen bed and a couch that pulls out into a full, as well as a cot available for a 5th person. This space is ideal for 2 to 3 people but can fit up to 5+ if you are willing to get cozy. We have had up to 6 people as there is a large amount of floor space. Your room comes with a TV (local channels available), Roku (our Netflix account is available to use or feel free to use any of your subscriptions) and free wifi. Please note that our house is over 100 years old. As such, you may occasionally hear some floor creaks. We are very mindful of this, and will try our best to be as quiet as possible. If you are driving, there is plenty of free street parking in front of or very close to our house. Just watch for street sweeping signs.
The basement has a separate entrance off the back of the house. There is a large deck in the back yard with a grill and fire pit that you are welcome to use. There is not access to a kitchen, but there is a mini frig, microwave and keurig in the basement. If you need to do laundry while here, we can arrange access to the washer and dryer.
Interaction with guests
My husband and I live on the main floor and will be around most of the time if you need anything. We have two goldendoodles that are very friendly, but can be a little rambunctious at times. They go to daycare three times a week, which keeps their energy down at home. They will be kept upstairs at all times. We will do our best to keep their barking down, but you will probably hear the occasional bark. They are very quiet during the night. We also have 5 chickens that live on the side of the house. You will be able to see them pecking around from a couple of the windows. They do make a little bit of noise throughout the day when they are laying. We do have a fan available to use for some white noise.
Our house is in a fantastic location, just a couple blocks away from Highlands Square, and several blocks away from Tennyson Square, which both have many restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, specialty shops and bars. It is also very easy access to the Lower Highlands, Downtown, Sports Authority Field and I-70 to head up to the mountains.
Denver is impressively pedestrian and bike friendly. We walk and bike almost everywhere. In fact, the two of us share a car because we're able to walk/bike so often. There are bike rentals a coupe blocks away that we can point you to if you are interested in renting for the day (b-cycle). If you're not walking or biking, Uber or Lift are available within minutes or there is a bus stop a couple blocks away. The airport is a 30 minute drive from our house when there's no traffic (traffic peaks between 7:30am-9:30am and 4:00pm-6:00pm).
Check-In is any time after 5:00 pm on weekdays and 3:00 pm on weekends. If you need to check in earlier, let us know and we can almost always make it work. We can also work out having you drop off your bags prior to check-in as needed.
Check-Out is before 12:00 pm. However, if there's some reason you can't leave by noon and we don't have new guests trying to check in, you're welcome to hang out for longer. We can communicate about this and usually make whatever you need work.
We kindly ask that you don't smoke in our home, but you're welcome to smoke in the back yard (and we just ask that you dispose of your cigarette butts). We don't care if your cigarettes are brown or green - - it's all legal here in beautiful Colorado.
