Lovely afternoon sun streams through this peaceful room with a queen size pillow-top bed. Located on a quiet residential street w/public transportation within 2-3 blocks. Cafes, restaurants, bars, organic grocery store, laundry mat, etc., nearby.

The space

Come stay in the charming neighborhood of Bernal Heights, within walking distance of the Mission District and only 20 minutes away from downtown via public transportation. From our deck, you will see the famous "Hill," which offers a panoramic view of the entire city and only a 6 minute walk from our home.

You will have unlimited free off-street parking (no permit required) and easy access to public transportation.

Your room is furnished with a very comfortable queen size bed which basks in the wonderful and yummy afternoon sun. New Acacia hardwood floors, a large walk-in closet and custom made diamond light bay windows typical of Edwardian homes highlights this room.

Your private bathroom is located next to your bedroom.

Our home is a wonderful 2 bedroom, 2 bathrooms, well-maintained Edwardian house (not an apartment), on a safe and quiet street. Our home has a lovely healing and spiritual vibration and we take pride in its calm and peaceful energy.

We have a deck overlooking the bay, a large kitchen with a sunny nook, and a living room with a working fireplace.

Our neighborhood is full of cafes, restaurants, yoga studios, a bookstore, library, a wine bar, bakery, parks, and pleasant hikes with sweeping views of San Francisco. There is permit-free off street parking available; just be mindful of street cleaning signs to avoid parking tickets.

We are 2 to 3 blocks away from major bus lines. You can also take a 7-minute bus ride to the train station (BART) or walk there in just 15 minutes while exploring the neighborhoods of Bernal Heights and the Mission District.

We are a lesbian couple and welcome queer and straight folks from everywhere! :-)!

Guest access

You will have access to the entire kitchen with full amenities, the deck and the living room. Kitchen hours are 8:30 to 10:30am and again in the evenings from 7 to 9:30pm. A dedicated shelf in the refrigerator is available for you to store your food and counter space for your dry goods.

You'll also find a guidebook in your room filled with information about transportation, local sites, and menus from nearby cafes and restaurants.

Interaction with guests

We interact with guests in an easy and organic way that feels appropriate to each person and situation. We offer plenty of privacy since this bedroom is upstairs and we're mostly downstairs on the main level. On occasion, one of the hosts (Marie) may stay across the hallway from your room, but she's rarely ever seen upstairs. And sometimes we travel and may be away while you are here.

Other things to note

We provide complimentary coffee and/or tea in the mornings along with some cinnamon raisin toast, but you are welcome to saunter down the block to the local grocery store and load up on your favorite food items and store them on your dedicated food shelf in the fridge. :) STR-0000200

Where do I even begin with such a cool human being as Marie (and the Airbnb of course)? My friend and I stayed over Labor Day weekend and we fell head over heals in love with the place each day! Your stay will be the loveliest, warmest, and fullest of happy feels because of Marie. I mean, if you're lucky to be staying there when she's there. And boy did we get lucky :D! We agreed that it felt like you were just staying with a good friend (who is boss at hosting). This is THE best Airbnb I have ever stayed in and you can be sure you'll be in the best company. We met Nsomeka and their two friends, all of whom are just the loveliest! Marie is so accommodating and knows the best places! The minute we arrived we were greeted with hugs from her and Teri. And she gave us the best food recommendations! You got your seafood, your bakery, your beer, your grocery store...and breakfast in the vibrant kitchen each morning! The neighborhood is a gem. The Airbnb is a gem. Marie is a gem. The gem of gems. We were there during the hottest day SF has seen (I think) and somehow she made being in 100 degrees feel amazing. If you are comfortable with interacting with your hosts at Airbnbs, definitely chat with Marie. Even if you're not, say hi! She's the friendliest and most cheerful! Her positive energy will rub off on you :) As my friend and I kept saying (and bragging to our friends who did not get to stay there), "Marie is boss." Thank you so much, Marie! We're coming back next time we're in town.

Everything was as described and expected. The guest room is really big and the whole house is very clean. Marie is such a nice and hospitable person. We had some lovely chats and Marie gave us great recommendation on where to eat and where to go. Also there is a useful folder with lots of information in the guest room. We couldn't have wished for a better host and would definitely stay with Marie again.

i've lived in san francisco for nearly 30 years and can confidently say, i know my city quite intimately; i'm happy to make recommendations to help you have an enjoyable stay as well as help navigate our charming village by the bay.

one of my most nourishing relationships is with mother nature; i enjoy hiking to mountain peaks, through waterfalls, camping through various seasons and taking in all the good medicine that pachamama has to offer. i also enjoy growing and harvesting plant medicine and have a deep abiding reverence for indigenous, buddhist and nature based ceremonies.

i have a reiki practice and work mostly with cancer related clients; i also teach meditation in san francisco and oakland and am a co-founder of a residential meditation center located in berkeley.
