Hidden under the roofs of le Marais, in a building dating back from the building of the Place des Vosges, a nice flat welcomes you for a unique experience !

The space

A lovely room in the heart of the fashionable district of Le Marais in the former Hotel de Joyeuse. Having climbed the wooden steps of the old staircase to the fourth floor, you will have access to a real old Parisian apartment, nestled under the roof, with its low ceiling and its endearing and stunning views over the roofs, the changing sky full of birds.
After a good shower, an invigorating breakfast is waiting for you to prepare for a day of work or adventure.
Three subway stations and a dozen bus stations are nearby, plus Velib and Autolib stations. It is close to the Seine, to the Place des Vosges, museums are all around, luxury boutiques and designer shops : Paris is yours!
A room with a library, wardrobe, his private washbasin. You share a large shower room with another guest.
New bedding, a mattress on wooden slats, a light but warm quilt, impeccable linen. WiFi, hairdryer, courtesy tray with tea, coffee, sugar, milk. Toilets shared by members of the apartment and equipped with an antiseptic dispenser! Beware, there is no elevator, you will keep fit, no problem.

Guest access

Your room opens to the breakfast/common room, a sunny place with a great view on the roofs of le Marais. You can sit there to read your emails, chat or have a drink of French wine !

Interaction with guests

I do live there but can be very discreet if you want to be on your own. You can always ask for a nice restaurant, a cosy café, where to make your jogging etc.

Marie-Christine was the best host i have come across. Extremely responsive to my queries and kindly had her godson welcome us at her apartment. The warmth of the welcome we received epitomised the very best of the air bnb experience. The host stayed up late to make sure we got there safely and even called up restaurants on our behalf to check they were still open. Waking up in this utterly charming flat- sur les toits du marais- with the light streaming through the kitchen window, was equally rewarding. Breakfast was kindly served with fresh bread and croissants from a local patisserie. All in all, I would highly recommend both the flat and the host; my only regret is that I could not have stayed longer. I certainly intend to return. Thank you very much!

A gentle stay in Paris. The bedroom has a wonderful calm feel to it, a restorative nights sleep in a comfortable bed after a long days travel. The quiet courtyard and helpful neighbours made for a friendly, welcoming start. Superb location, strolling through the arches in Places des Vosges within minutes. 15 minutes on the Metro to Gare du Nord, perfect! Marie-Christine sparkled with her love and knowledge of Paris and gently pointed us in the direction of fantastic restaurants buzzing with Parisians. Nothing was too much trouble, from our arrival time, another cup of hot coffee at breakfast or to leaving our bags safe whilst we explored on our last day. After a busy day zipping through Paris it felt like coming 'home'. Lovely.

The apartment is in a really beautiful part of Paris, surrounded by lots of lovely shops and restaurants. Notre Dame is walking distance and there are plenty of nearby metro stations. The room was as shown in the picture, clean and very comfortable. A nice little touch was that a couple of pocket sized maps were left in the room for guests to use. Marie-Christine (and Toni, her godson, who looked after the flat for a couple of days while she was away) were both very welcoming and friendly and happy to recommend things to do/see. They both spoke good English, but as I wanted to practice my French they were more than happy to speak slowly in French to me instead! The breakfast was VERY good - fresh bread, croissants, yoghurt, fruit, juice, coffee etc., and even the latest magazines left out to read while eating. I would definitely recommend staying here if you want to stay in the coolest part of Paris!

Born and living in Paris, I love my city and want to make you love it too ! My place is on the fourth floor of a 17th century building, right in the historical center of le Marais, close to lots of nice museums, art galleries, cafés, restaurants and fashion boutiques. You can walk all day long and never get tired of it. You will feel like a real parisian, drinking your morning coffee, looking at the roofs of Paris, the sky above, sun shining if the weather permits. Just glorious! Come to Paris, you will be welcome.
