Stunning valley views. This gentlewomen's farm, nestled on 77 acres & surrounded by 1000's more, is home to 3 alpaca, 2 horses & handfuls of chickens. Collect eggs, kayak, hike, read & nap in this private quiet mountainside get away or go antiquing. Our place is good for couples, solo, small families (kids under 1 or 6 and older) and adventurers. If our house is booked look into our Camper listing.

The space

Our home is a short distance from a Connecticut River Boat launch, Pisgah State Park, Warrwick and Mt. Grace State Forests, and the Metacomet-Monadnock trail system. We do have our own trails off of the property and just on the other side of "our" little mountain is a section of a rails to trails system, which stretches for miles between Keene (NH), Brattleboro (VT), and Northfield (MA). The space is decorated with vintage and antique items and furniture. It is perfect for a retreat or a base for your outdoor adventures.

We love our animals: alpaca, horses, chickens, 2 cats, and a dog. We also love the animals that venture into our yard. Recently a moose took out a section of our horse fencing. Though, mostly we see deer, coyotes, fox, possums, countless numbers and species of song birds, and birds of prey (a pair of red-tailed hawks nest here and bald eagles fly over frequently in the summer and fall months).

We have some sporting equipment we can offer; snow shoes, and a couple of sets of cross country skis (for the right size people) & kyaks if you can transport them. We also have a hot tub located under the stars that can be used any time of the year & a gazebo that is nestled on the front lawn with a gas fire bowl, swing, and bistro table for leisurely pleasures.

We invite you to visit us

Guest access

The house divides into two sections quite easily. The front portion of the house has incredible views and is the area we hope our quests will enjoy. Three bedrooms are upstairs (one with a queen size bed, one with a full size bed, and the third with one or two single beds). We also keep a full size bed in the living room as extra lounging space. There is a bathroom upstairs with a shower. The kitchen is fully equipped for guest use.

We ask that should you like to use any of our sporting equipment you make arrangements ahead of time.

Interaction with guests

We do expect to be able to welcome our visitors, walk them through the house and answer any questions they may have. Most often we will be present through the duration of our guests' stay. When we are not we make arrangements for house sitters who sometimes stay on the property. While guests are visiting two doors close between the "guest space" and "our space." There is privacy for everyone and the guest space feels like a home to itself.

Our interaction with guests is typically limited to greeting them. We are available by phone to answer any questions that our guests may have and are willing always to help with suggestions for outings.

Other things to note

Our two cats may visit you at your request. There is a cat door that can be unlocked if you are hoping for a visit.

Parents: Please note, we love having young ones visit with us. The alpaca, especially love little children. Our home is furnished and decorated with many antiques and vintage items, is over 200 years-old and can, for some families, be a hard space to manage for multiple young children, specifically toddlers, so we limit the ages of children who come to stay her to under 1 years and older than 6 years.

We are in a rural area. There are convenience stores, a local grocery store and several farm stands with local produce within ten minutes from us. Keene is a 20-30 minutes drive depending upon traffic and the route chosen to get there. Brattleboro and Greenfield are each 20 minutes from the house. Please consider this as you plan your trip.

When you are ready to leave, please remove the sheets from your bed and leave them on the kitchen floor.

We love our house and know you will too. Thanks for your help in these small ways, it keeps our space available for others in the future.

Location, Location, Location! Should you want to leave the beautiful views of Gentlewomens Farm for some day trips, the choices are abundant and easy to travel to. We took a trip to Brattleboro, VT (a beautiful 14 mile country drive), spent hours shopping in the downtown district, and then looped around 20 miles to Keene, NH and enjoyed walking the Main Street area of shops and restaurants. Our finale was a stop for ice cream at Walpole Creamery. Then it was 14+ miles back to the farm to enjoy the sunset and the animals. Plenty of hiking and water activities to enjoy as well, all within a very short drive. We stayed during the July 4th weekend and did not have to leave the farm to view fireworks displays from several towns, Sunday and Monday nights. The views from the extra comfy glider in the gazebo, or from the living-room couch or comfy daybed, of the mountain ranges, was beautiful as it was, the fireworks added an extra delight! There was a nice breeze throughout the house so we got to enjoy the fresh mountain air instead of the standard air conditioning at our condo. I could go on and on, but, instead of boring you with more of my writing, our stay, in a nutshell: "Exceptionally clean, comfortable, everything you could need, charming, sweet home with a dash of whimsy, to be enjoyed with the bonus of Alpacas, Chickens, Horses, Cats, Sophie the Cow, and Sheba, my favorite dog visitor, fresh farm eggs (yes you can taste the difference!) gorgeous mountain views, and wonderful hosts." Looking forward to a Fall and Winter visit at a home away from home! Mary & Ciarra

What a gorgeous venue! So peaceful......I loved the house and would recommend this place highly! The bed was comfy, the house bright with big windows, lots of sunshine, a breeze and a scenic vista. I loved the lush, green fields all around and just watching the storm come across the valley. I really got to relax.

Stacy's place is wonderful. While she and her partner share the same home (though its separated and private) you almost never see them, and they give you a ton of privacy. The view from the hot tub, the sounds of the country and the lack of vehicle traffic are all wonderful.

This home was a beautiful colonial well maintained and filled with beautiful antiques. The beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms were spacious. The kitchen was stocked with all the necessary items to cook meals and the owners left us farm fresh eggs from their chickens! We had some egg-cellent omelettes! The house was not far from local restaurants but was secluded with a gorgeous view of the sunset. I would highly recommend this location to a friend.

Stacey and Sue have a picture-perfect farmhouse tucked away on a steep hill overlooking the rolling hills of NH and MA. We loved our stay at their farmhouse. Everything was as they stated in the communications -- lovely views, friendly animals, comfortable beds, and a fully equipped kitchen complete with fresh eggs and good coffee. What more does one need for a bit of peace and quiet? ANSWER: Nothing if you are staying at Stacey and Sue's farmhouse.

We loved staying at the farm! The view is spectacular, the space clean and comfortable with everything you need! There is a hot tub right outside that you can use at anytime and watch the llama's and the horses, chickens and mountain and sky. There is a trail right at the back of the property with a lovely hike. Brattleboro is only 20 minutes away and the ride is beautiful. We got to help feed the animals and just thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Stacey and Sue were great hosts and were always available if we needed them. You could sit and stare out the window all day and just enjoy the house. Thanks for a great visit!

Hello,

I'm Stacey and my partner is Sue. We live in a beautiful home overlooking the top of the Pioneer Valley. Every morning we wake up and are reminded that we are incredibly blessed to live on the side of "our" little mountain. Recently, with the urging of friends and family, we decided we want to share this space with others.
