To ensure that our guests can enjoy all we got we have put a break on those few travelers trying to get a brisk overview and rush in and out without having seen what we are: a realm of SE- Asian traditions with time and space: Now 3 days minimum stay to let you calm down;
Go cycling with our bicycles through beautiful villages;
enjoy rooms with great views from your private balcony (orchid houses, palm and flower garden, turtle pond);
the perfect place for up to 14 people in 6 rooms/3 stilted houses;

Interaction with guests

We meet our guests before check in on the net and want to find out when we meet them and how they will arrive.
Free airport pick up by us is now off because too many times waiting due to huge delays at the airport. Please get your taxi from airport or your hotel downtown and we share the price you pay (around 10 US $).
We have often contact during the day; also when serving free breakfast with good time to chat; we serve what guests like e.g. daily change from fruit muesli to toast with egg and jam to local style rice or noodle soup and so on; other meals (lunch, dinner) possible and not expensive;
cultural program is offered by in house tour agent; requests can be discussed and booked directly; 1 host is licensed tour guide Engl./German/Thai speaking;
car with good guide/driver available for daily programs around 100,- US per day.
When guests book program without us please make sure you will have the pick up from our property. Otherwise you need taxi service downtown early in the morning as their is no easy shuttle at that time.
We can help you book program and pick up from here.

Other things to note

we are very open for our guests wishes and have a travel agency on the ground; program available; guide available and all can be discussed before arrival here and during your stay with us.

House Rules

We expect some common sense when we let house guests enjoy our space together; 3 generations live in host family including an 80 year old grand grand ma. Nightly returns are possible but should be discussed as other guests want a peaceful stay.
Nightly returns by taxi cost around 350 Baht or ca. 10,- US $.
Not so late returns can be arranged via local transport means plus our pick up from local minibus station;
No druggies please;
smoking in many garden areas no problem after safety instructions because of wooden houses and balconies; ashtrays available;
alcohol (beer and wine) available on grounds but please refrain from loud parties; we have parties for all to take part in during Thai New Year, Western New Year and may be a few birthdays from host family;
pets are allowed after request and check and we have two cats 3 dogs plus 11 turtles in a big pond like structure.
We recently had some problems with hand made laundry (by guests) hanging around everywhere. That was flooding some wooden rooms/floors. We want to help and offer very cheap and good laundry in the neighbourhood. Please abstain from do it your self laundry here.
Please enjoy our pets but do them no harm, especially by kids not knowing how to behave when playing with animals. Parents please be alert and show them or let us show how to interact with our cute pets. Even our friendliest pet can react angry to protect itself from harm by guests or their children.

The house of Jim and Marcel can be described in 1 word: an oasis! It has a soft atmosphere, a nice garden, Coco the sweet dog...turtles, and a beautiful grandmother. Marcel is busy making some renovations so I am sure you will have even more comfort then what we had! Jim makes a delicious breakfast and on request she can cook lunch or dinner and even teach you how. Both Jim and Marcel are open for questions and love sharing things and knowledge about Thailand, the area, and life. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the nights are fresh, quiet and with no mosquitos (perfect time December). Upon our arrival I had asked to get a massage for the whole family...what a treat after such a long trip! It is a bit more expensive but definitely worth doing. You are in fact a bit out of Chang Mai but with a taxi or with Marcel you can be brought to the city. ...and after a day in town with the pollution, traffic, and heat you will just love to come back to the oasis and to the kindness of Jim and Marcel!

Response from Marcel:
Dear Savina, we all hope you had a happy stay on the beach because we saw all the wet pics from the South. Big thanx for enjoying all our service, food, pets and more! Yeah we restructure the garden a bit - more light and flowers for the future and built a new garden home for the grand mas of Jim and me. All will improve for the future. Let's meet in Amsterdam or Cologne in summer 17, big hugs to Allegra, Amadeo and Gary too

Marcel and Jim are genuinely lovely people. The little bike rides through the village were great. Nothing was too much trouble. Jim is an amazing cook!! Marcel's obvious love of his gardens and village made the stay just that little more special for my daughter and I

Response from Marcel:
We see us again and make big rides! And we love to have more talks with both of you. May be next time your daughter has a fight in Thailand and we all can see her flattening Thai ladies. We love to learn more Aussie slang words too, take care

The Golden Teak Home was the absolute highlight of our 4 month trip! We travelled as a family of 4 and the house worked perfectly for us. Jim was the most amazing host, guided us through all of the Chiang Mai temples, educating us in Buddhism, and ensuring we experienced the local culture. Her Thai dinners are unbeatable, going out will only disappoint...stay in for dinner and enjoy Jim's cooking and take lessons from her! We loved staying outside of the busy Chiang Mai downtown and Jim will ensure you can get to wherever you need to go. If visiting Chiang Mai, this is no doubt the place to stay and we will be back to visit again soon.
