Guest access

#1 What is “Doma”?

It is a kind of Kyoto Machiya Style of Architecture.

“Doma” is a concrete corridor from entrance until in front of "Tatami" rooms.
So, “Tatami” rooms are constructed a little bit higher than this “Doma” corridor, and so that is why there is stone step for leaving off shoes before entering each tatami rooms.

<>

So, when you enter "Tatami room", then please leave your shoes on the "stone" located at between "Tatami" room entrance and "Doma" corridor.

#2 What is “Tsuboniwa”?

This "Tsuboniwa" garden here was facilitated for both ventilation and sun lighting between this tea room building and main rooms building.

#3 What is “Yukimi shoji”?

“Yukimi shoji” consist of whole paper shoji and bottom half based on glass window. And bottom half of “paper shoji” can be sliding upward to show glass window just to “see” garden “snow" and downward to close the window part.
Japanese “Yukimi” means “Yuki” = snow and “mi” = see,
That is why it is called “Yukimi shoji”
