About this listing
Relax in this quiet, calm quayside home-away-from-home with a view of the sea, yet a mere stumble from the pubs, cafes and shops that make Wells-next-the-Sea great. Spacious, character and quirky Georgian home in a sought after old boat yard just steps from the sea and smack bang in the middle of North Norfolk's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Fresh air and big blue skies as standard.
This is a gorgeous three storey Georgian house converted from two fisherman's cottages originally built in the early 18th century. Many original features such as the converted aga, pamment tile flooring, hidey holes, beamed ceilings and Norfolk staircases, have been retained in the recent renovations. Modern luxurious comforts have now been added to complement the unusual dwelling, with eclectic taste and style. The house is situated in a quiet yard and conservation area just off the East Quay within half a minutes' walk of the sea and 5 minutes from the bustling town centre shops, cafes and pubs.
The ground floor comprises of a large open yet cosy kitchen / dining / living space, utility area and downstairs loo. At the heart of the home is a reconditioned 1930s cream aga, but for the uninitiated I have also provided an induction hob in addition to everything else you would expect in the kitchen such as dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, toaster, etc. There are two seating areas, either centred around the welcoming log burner or seated under the glass roof providing wonderful views of Norfolk's wide open skies. A flat screen TV with freeview and DVD player are available, plus Sonos music player. There is also a small study area with sea views where you can watch the tide coming in and pick the boat of your dreams.
On the middle floor there is a generous double room, twin room and newly refurbished shower room. On the top floor there is a very large super comfy super king room with views over the sea and salt marshes from dual aspect windows and a boutique hotel style bathroom with walk-in shower, free standing bath, stylish sink and toilet.
The entire house is at your disposal during your stay, including the courtyard garden and small seated yard opposite the gate. There is a shared parking area close to the house and you rarely have difficulty parking in this quiet residential yard.
Interaction with guests
Access is by keysafe and guests are left alone to enjoy their holiday in peace. In case of any issues, requests or help needed, I can be reached easily at the end of the phone and the locally based housekeeper can be called out if necessary.
I would be happy to provide you with recommendations for day trips, shopping and the many local pubs and restaurants in the area before you arrive and answer any other questions you may have.
Other things to note
Towels and linen are provided appropriate to the number of guests booked. In case of bad weather, there are plenty of books, boardgames, toys and lego available for a cosy day in front of the log burner.
In addition to the lovely aga and logburner downstairs, the house is centrally heated with a moveable thermostat to ensure you can have the temperature you want in the upstairs bedrooms.
I can only accept Airbnb verified guests and preferably those who have already been reviewed. Please ensure that you have obtained these before any enquiries or reservation requests. Many thanks.
Please treat my home as you would like yours to be treated! This is a quiet residential area, therefore I would only ask that guests conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with the location.
Sorry but I do not allow pets as some guests have allergies. Smoking is only permitted outside of the property, but please dispose of any cigarette butts carefully.
Check in on arrival is at 15:00 and check out on your last day is at 10:00.
Hello there. I am a cheesemonger, chef and baker currently earning my stripes away from home. I love North Norfolk and all it has to offer and am pleased to share the area with enthusiastic guests who want to explore, but also to relax and breathe deeply in the sea air.
I love going on holiday, whether short weekends to Europe to see something new or longer trips to Africa or South America, and frequently use AirBnB myself. I studied Russian and lived in Moscow and St Petersburg for 3 years in my early twenties which really kick started the travel bug. I know what it's like to be on both sides of AirBnB and so understand how important it is to treat someone's home just as you would like your own to be treated!
