Our downstairs bedroom/bathroom is spacious and private, with faux wood-paneling and a bit of sunlight, and a sitting area. We're about 3/4 to 1 mile to Alki Beach and half a mile to the California/Admiral intersection of W. Seattle. Short-term stays best.
Welcome to West Seattle! We've got a great guest room/shower bathroom combo with private patio entrance and street parking to share. While you are in our home, we stay upstairs and leave the daylight downstairs to you, more like you have an accessory unit than a room in the midst of the space we're using. The large room has 70s-style wood paneling, a comfy queen bed and sofa, flat-screen TV/DVD player, and a faux fire crackling in the (real) fireplace. People report sleeping well in our cool quarters.
We've been offline for the first part of 2013 while completing a re-landscaping project to install a new patio, outdoor lighting, walkways, and other hard-scaping at the house, with outdoor bench seating and a bar counter outside for a great outdoor room/picnic experience.
You'll find a coffee maker in the room and a fridge in the adjoining garage where you can chill snacks and drinks as you wish, but no real cooking facilities. We'll provide breakfast and some snacks -- if/when you book I'll discuss any special diets etc. re: breakfast. Full disclosure: The bedroom and bathroom are fully remodeled, but to go between them you do pass through a space which is less aesthetically pleasing (exposed joists etc.), i.e. laundry room/basement.
Travelers, I generally can't accept reservations less than 24 hours before you plan to arrive. Because I am away from home frequently myself and want guests to experience a properly prepped space, same-day and night-before requests are hard to accommodate. Also, no pets. Thanks!
Location: We're in the Admiral area of W. Seattle. Street parking is easily available, but if car-free we're near buses to downtown (M56/57, a 15 minute ride) and the shuttle to the West Seattle water taxi. We're a little over a half mile from Alki Beach, and a pleasant half-mile walk to the California/Admiral intersection where you'll find several restaurants, a wine bar and pubs, 2nd run movie theater, yoga studio, day spa, bagel shop, pizza takeout, two grocers, nice viewpoints and parks, Schmitz Park nature preserve, and a community center with an outdoor track.
No pets, no indoor smoking (outdoors OK). The room does have a (non-pull out) sofa if a third person wanted to sleep on it, but it's really best suited for a single or a couple sharing the bed. For longer stays (a week or so), help yourself to the washer/dryer.
