The space

Higher Westcott farm is a 300 year old granite walled Devon longhouse, located in Dartmoor National Park, 3 miles from Moretonhamsptead. Westcott is a traditional English hamlet set in surrounding countryside, ancient woodland and rolling hills, 1,000 feet above sea level.
The house has been designed to offer a contemporary but still traditional environment, focusing on comfort and style, with wood burning stove and leather sofas.
Filled with sunshine in the morning and evenings with family and friends or just a book for company, the lounge offers leather sofas, tub chairs and window seats in which to enjoy a drink and the views.
Dining Room
Filled with sunshine in the morning or lit with candles at night this cosy room features a huge stone fireplace and a bespoke square oak dining table.
The stylish rooms feature sumptuous beds, Egyptian cotton and duck down duvets and window seats. Each room is a mix of old and new with exposed beams, double ended bath and a huge cherub mirror. Large recessed showers, en suite bathrooms and natural stone.
The Garden

Gorgeous property with masses of space. Everything we needed was provided and more. In a lovely quiet location. The drive to it might be a bit of an experience for those not used to Devon roads but the directions provided by the host will get you there safely. Can't recommend this property enough :)

Fabulous location and the house was just what we wanted for a family group of four generations. Everybody loved the experience and our dog loved the grounds and the local walks. The house was more than big enough for all of us whether we all wanted to be together or in smaller groups. It was in great condition for a 400+ year old house.

The house was lovely, fantastic for our team. We enjoyed all good time at kitchen, bedrooms and garden. I recommend the Jo's house to another family and teams for enjoying rural landscape and lifestyle. However, the signal of Wi-Fi and Cellular phone did not worked.

Response from Jo:
Hi Jin I'm sorry you had problems checking in. I sent the information through Airbnb 28 June, 7 days before arrival and you would have received it through the information section also. It states there where the key is and how to enter the house. But i am pleased that my neighbour was able to assist you in. There is no mobile signal in Westcott and this is also in the arrival details. There is BT WiFi in the house. As it is an old house in a remote hamlet the signal is the not the strongest. If there was no signal at all then there may be an issue. We live just down the road and could have investigated if you had let me know. I am going to the house this morning so will take a look. I did email you the day after arrival also to ensure all was well. I am not sure why you didn't receive these messages as i sent them through Airbnb. Really pleased you all enjoyed the house and your trip though. Many thanks and enjoy your summer. Jo

A truly beautiful cottage that was in impeccable condition, set in the most spectacular area, Jo was ever helpful and friendly and made our trip that extra bit special. In light of this, we felt the best way to sum up our experience of the trip would be in a short poem... 11 young men, having Glastonbury been, advanced upon Dartmoor, so luscious and green. Welcomed and accommodated, the house was serene the duvets were soothing, and the pillows a dream. We took it quite easy, feeling the effect, the first day we rose, to find out whats next. The cars we jumped into, the lake we did find, with Jeremy our baptist, our sins well defined. A dunk in the water, a sermon well read, the frogs they were leaping, our sins were now dead. Next day came the games, oh how the lions roared, with our own Westcott rugby, how could we be bored. We all hoped of this holiday, the fun we defend, but all things must die, and all wounds will mend. Our heaven was over, to home we must fly! what a time we all had, tears of joy we did cry. As friends leaving here, we must say goodbye, to that cottage in Dartmoor, where the wild things lie.
