Description

The space

These timber houses are built halfway up the dune overlooking the estuary with amazing views. Plenty of restaurants, pubs and water sport activities available within walking distance

Guest access

You would have access to an entire house. The house is serviced daily(not Sundays) and has a guard at night - so you can sleep with open doors!

Improvements now allow access to normal sedan vehicles although 4 X 4 recommended if you want to go all the way up the dune

Interaction with guests

Herman, my caretaker is on hand to assist at all times. He can advise on purchases of produce from the local community and is completely fluent in both Portuguese and English.

The neighbourhood

Barra Beach is the ONLY east - west facing beach front in Africa. It is unique in that it encompasses not only the endless white beaches but also the awesome marine estuary. This is a perfect spot for a holiday - if you want to get away and just relax island style.

Getting around

Car hire is available. There is a bus that travels from Barra Beach to Inhambane and Tofo every half hour. Most activities are within a 3 km radius of Palm View Lodge.

Other things to note

Catered packages can be arranged on request.
Scuba Diving, deep sea fishing and other water sport activities can be arranged.
You will need to pay for power - 500 Meticais per week or part thereof.
Bring own beach towels and toilet paper.

Palm View lodge is in a brilliant location with only a short walk to the beach and all the local lodges and bars. Just a three minute walk (or 5 if the sand is super hot and you have to run to shaded patches) up the sand dune behind the lodge to get to a lovely bar/restaurant called Sunset Boulevard! (Sunset also has a pool you can take a dip in) Herman and the night guard were both polite and very helpful!:-) the lodge itself is very clean and spacious, a beautiful view from the balcony allows you to see the beach and mangroves. Each bedroom has a fan which is definitely much appreciated if you are going for a summer trip as it can get hot, it is peaceful at night. We very much enjoyed our stay here as a group of 5! Gwen and Greg were very welcoming and we definitely recommend staying here!!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Palm View in Barra - i would definitely recommend staying here for people who want to be in Tofo but away from the hustle and bustle of Tofo beach. Palm View is close enough to all activities (we went on an ocean safari and went scuba diving as well). The house is clean and well maintained, with a super helpful gentleman on the grounds who is there to assist with anything you need.

My wife and I had an amazing 3 weeks at Palm View! The view from the balcony over the palm trees and the mangrove is pretty spectacular. A great spot for breakfast. There are many lodges within 1-3km that provide diving, ocean safari's and quad biking tours of which I would recommend all three. Herman(The care taker) was more than helpful and always available. Although Mozambique is well known for it's corruption we found the officials in the area very friendly and had no issues. Having a 4x4 is really useful as it will allow you to explore much more of the area. Flying into Inhambane and renting a 4x4 is also an option.

Palm View was a brilliant place to stay - it was absolutely perfect. It is such a well-equipped and spacious place, we had everything we needed. We were travelling through Mozambique using public transport so didn't have a 4wd but that wasn't a problem at all, there are plenty of minibuses and pick-ups that can drop you outside. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes sunsets, beautiful beaches and space!

The house, view and assistance we received was impeccable. Waking up to that view over the water was such a beautiful way to start the day. The house itself was clean, and very spacious. We had a wonderful time! Our only mistake was not having a 4x4, which you really need to get up to the house. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!

I am married to an awesome husband and have two gorgeous daughters. I am a swim instructor and a dive master. My husband is a dive instructor.

We are a fun loving adventurous family who love the ocean and nature. I prefer to be by the sea and while we are still currently based in Johannesburg for work reasons, our goal is to move to Mozambique permanently as soon as possible.

I want to share this life of simplicity and peace with as many people as possible.

My motto is: Dream it, envision it, plan it and live it!

Our house in Mozambique is living our dream!
