About this listing
This newly renovated apartment combines modern chic with the original structure of this 18th century building. On a quiet street just a few minutes walking distance from the Bastille and the Marais, you will also be close to the new Opera and the picturesque and lively Marché Aligre. Although not well known, but certainly worth visiting, the Marché Aligre is a wonderful market place, both covered and open-air, with lots of twisting alleyways between vendors, a colorful display of fruits and vegetables, various shops and cafés, and bustling with activity. Take time to explore this area. Nearby, a walk over to Bastille provides an array of restaurants and cafés to choose from, as well as bakeries, butchers, clothes stores and more. From here, you are just a short walk from the Marais and the exquisitely beautiful Place des Vosges. The Marais, the oldest neighborhood in Paris, is considered one of the best areas for clothes shopping. The apartment, right next to metro stops Ledru Rollin and Bastille, will swiftly take you to a myriad of various sites and neighborhoods throughout Paris.
This newly renovated apartment is located on the 1st European floor walk up (2nd US) and offers a very open floor plan. The bedroom with a double bed is located off the kitchen in an alcove, separated by a curtain and a shade to ensure privacy. Off the bedroom you will find the bathroom, accessed only through the bedroom. Please note that there are 2 steps leading into the bathroom, which offers a shower, sink, WC and a towel warmer. There is also a separate WC off the living room for easy access by all so that guests sleeping on the sofa bed do not need to walk through the bedroom.
The kitchen opens up directly into the living area which offers a double sofa bed to sleep 2 more guests, for a total of 4. The owner has kept some of the original beams and whitewashed them providing a light and bright apartment. The kitchen offers a ceramic induction stovetop, oven, small refigerator, dishwasher and even a toaster. The apartment offers FREE local calls, FREE calls to North America and FREE high speed Internet; Wi-Fi or Ethernet, to keep in touch with family and friends during your stay. A flat screen TV with cable including some English channels is provided whether you want to check the weather for sightseeing that day or just to sit and relax after a long day out.
The neighborhood is dynamic and trendy, a hub for fashionistas and restaurant lovers. Its reputation as the center of wood and furniture craftspeople and fabric designers still holds true after hundreds of years. You will find hidden workshops tucked away in the buildings’ courtyards, including at rue Saint Nicolas! The neighborhood is central yet less touristy than other neighborhoods – a mixture of Parisian shops of days-gone-by with a hip and fashionable edge.
