Interaction with guests

We will be around as we live here, but on a different floor.

The neighbourhood

Niagara falls is genuine. It has had its hey day. Lovely restaurants and the falls are amazing. We are the quiet side and Canada is the carnival side. Only a walk away to everything
Our home is in downtown Niagara falls. It is seriously a brilliant location. All of Niagara Falls is very very poor. We only have five houses between us and the strip of restaurants then the falls.

Getting around

WALK. or ask joe to drive you. We can pick up from airport and train/bus stations. prices in house guidelines.

Check in time is 4PM - 9PM

AIRBNB only cover hosts for what is listed in their rules which means we have to state the obvious. You will need to read it to know the code to enter.

Niagara falls USA is very poor. This is not our fault.
Please do not, rush, thump through the house or chuck yourself onto the furniture.. Show her some tenderness. Walk lightly. This is our home and it is very quirky.

Do not move our furniture around. It is not necessary.
If you feel the urge to use, what is obviously a displayed antique or use 200 year old furniture in a manner harsher than an 1800's gentile lady, then we take it that you understand implicitly that you are agreeing to replace any item damaged at full replacement cost via the AIRBNB resolution centre prior to departure.

We are letting you see the history of the house. The floors are untreated, so it is NOT modern tough polyurethane and none of us can create patina.
PLEASE do not roll your suitcases across the floors,
.
**If your luggage is so heavy, you can not carry it, please do not book here. *** we can not help carry your luggage as we both have bad backs
We want everyone to be able to experience the history but to do so, you need to be careful. This house is being heritage listed.
We do not accept third party bookings, nor check in groups individually.
Check in is between 4-9 pm and check out is before 10am.

Early/late arrival and late departures/luggage left can sometimes be facilitated. $15

**We do not wish to accept arrivals after 9pm or before 8 am. **
This may be negotiated during low season.

We provide you with a key. It opens the bottom lock of the front door. Please dont use top locks.

Lost keys are $20 to replace. Charged via AIRBNB resolution centre.

Always lock the doors behind you.
Your room does not have a key. We live here.

We offer free car parking which you can choose to use.
Please do not explore what has not been shown to you. You are not allowed into our personal private areas under any circumstances and will be asked to leave our home immediately if you ignore this request. We do not offer the use of the first floor kitchen. From mid May there is a kitchen on the second floor for your use. Please ensure you wash and clean up after yourself for the next guest.

Do not let new guests in. They do not know where their room is. Please get our attention.
We ask that as a guest you do not ever let anyone into our home.

If everyone complies to this, then only those that have a key are in the house.

This includes our children or “friends”, tradesmen or delivery people.
I.e. If they “say” they know us… then they know not to ask you to let them in.
Be considerate of others coming after you in the bathroom by wiping away your hair and putting rubbish in the bin.
Boys…… seat down please.
You can choose to eat in upstairs servant area. Here you have a more casual buffet affair and do your own dishes afterwards. Dry and put away.
.
Remember this isn’t a hotel. Its just plain ol’ us sharing our home.
We can pick up/ drop off when arranged.
BUF or IAG Airports/ Buffalo bus/train Niagara AMRACK (because it is notoriously late) pick up / drop off. And Lockport $75
Fort Niagara $100 one way
The falls/Helicopter/ aquarium/local restaurants
in high season it is not advisable but we will if asked. $20 each way
Whirl pool or Devils Hole/Amtrack $35 p couple each way

5pm-9pm add $20
9pm-8am add $50

We are happy to offer this additional service. You can of course use public transport or taxi. There is no Uber

Feel free to eat take out food at the kitchen table upstairs. Or your room has its own little table and chairs Please do not eat in the beds.
There is some very old graffiti on a few rafters which is part of the home’s story but there is no way to know who or when. Please do not add to it by writing/carving on the beams. Which is easy to do because the dark beams are covered in a patina of history. Touch them and you expose the fresh wood underneath. Please don’t. ( This is actually our room, we will notice)
The wooden pegs, and board with a name across it, all came from the walls of the attic and we wish for them to remain here. Please look but don’t touch.

We ask you respect this beautiful old house as she is uncovered again. Enjoy your stay as that is our primary goal. The Niagara falls experience is awesome. Our house is fascinating, and the county of Niagara is poor. See things as they are and make yourself at home here.
Please message this Code to show you at least glanced and understood house rules. 7899

Joe and Katherine were amazing host and allowed us to share a piece of their home and its history. They are very attentive and well spoken from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. They Definetly have done their research on the house and have gone above and beyond to accommodate us and share with us the unique history of their home. The attic room is amazing and everything you see in pictures. The house is a work in progress and that is what makes it special because you are apart of the progress. The Layout was cozy and they even provided snacks for us. I would Definitely recommend it to everyone. We even have friends who saw our videos asking us for their air bnb information!! Thanks Joe and Katherine for making our stay memorable

We stayed in the attic room which was very spacious and unique. I very pleased and surprised to see how clean and beautiful it was up there. I did not see or feel any dust nor did I see any cob webs. The wood floors and the wood trusses where beautiful. We walked to the falls from this home which was very easy and enjoyable rather then having to drive. We had an amazing lunch on Third Street at a restaurant called, Nashville North. The best pulled pork sandwich I have ever had. The area as Joe and Katherine had described is impoverished, but it was safe to walk around. We enjoyed our stay here, the bed was very comfortable and the breakfast kept us going well until lunch time.

It was a quirky, bizarre and unique experience - one that I will never forget. I looked at it as an adventure and personally loved staying there, because it was so different. My spouse thought it was dilapidated and run down - I saw it as a historical work in progress. I'd say if your looking for luxury go elsewhere, if your looking for a place with some character and an amazing location this is it.

The attic is a must-stay. The space is filled with history, and one must be careful or they can lose track of time and spend the entire weekend relaxing in the stand alone tub. Within two minutes you're in Canada, and you're only a block away from food on the New York side. I would definitely come back.
