We chose to stay a bit out of town in exchange for more space at a better rate. It worked great for us. We had no trouble getting a taxi. We were able to get to city center in about 10 minutes for $2-3. We enjoyed the quiet, private location by the river and Neil was a great host.

Both Neil and Veronica were very kind & helpful throughout our stay. The house is very spacious, and carries everything that's indicated in the description. The house is Located next to a river. Great location; 20 min from Cajas Nat Park, and about 10-15 mins from the downtown area. Thanks for hosting and we'll def. come back. Cheers.

Our stay in Cuenca was fantastic! Neil was out of town, so we communicated mostly with his co-host Veronica. She was friendly and responsive, and was waiting to give us the keys when we arrived. She checked on us a few times throughout our stay. The house was very clean and outfitted with most everything we needed. There is no clothes dryer, but there is a sunroom with a clothesline and fan for drying clothes if needed. The house is right next to the river, which was safe and beautiful to walk next to. There are stores and restaurants within walking distance, and the bus lines and taxis are regularly available on the main street one block away (Ordonez Lasso). The bus costs $0.25 per person per route, and there are many routes available. There are online maps available that show which busses to take, and the wifi in the house was 100% solid. The most we paid for a taxi was $3.50 to the opposite side of town. There are lots of tourist things to do around town, and many local treasures that should not be missed (art galleries, symphony, plays, museums, etc.). There are numerous markets with fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and fish within a short distance from the house. We could not have been happier with our accommodations and overall trip to Cuenca! Thanks Neil and Veronica!!!

This casa is in a great location, right off the river walking path into El Centro (a good 30-40 minute walk). We enjoyed walking so much while we were there, due to the river path proximity, that we both lost more than 12-lbs. in six weeks! This neighborhood is relatively quiet compared to three other locations that we have stayed in Cuenca and, other than the usual "Ecuador" noises, the running water in the Tomebamba River is a soothing treat. However, if you want, buses and taxis are easily available and nearby. The apartment was certainly more than adequate for the two of us (it can easily handle 4 people) and we never ran out of hot water when showering or using the washing machine. Wi-fi was available and we had no problems with it. Neil was a friendly, easy going host who was easily available when needed. We loved his friendly dog, Golly, who was always up for a petting and we enjoyed seeing which of his lovely orchids in his garden were going to bloom while we were there. All in all, we would highly recommend this condo for a short or long term visit in Cuenca.

Beautiful 3 bedroom home, the BEST water pressure and hottest shower we had our entire trip to South America! was great being able to hear the river flowing from the house, and walk over for a cup of Cafe in the morning to see the beautiful river

I found Neil's place when looking for a whole house that will accept dogs. Not only does he accept dogs, but bicycles over to check up on you to make sure your all o.k. He will engage as much as you like or as little.. Very clean place and excellent water pressure with an OVER sized Tankless water heater so you have great hot showers. Looks over a nice park with HUGE eucalyptus trees(150-180' tall) BEAUTIFUL orchid living wall garden and ferns with two reflection ponds in the front yard. I would HIGHLY recommend Neil's place for a family or couple for an extended stay.. So comfortable and there is a balcony! David and Alison P.S. If you need something, Neil will try to find it for you.

I am an Australian living in Cuenca and trying to learn Spanish. I have two houses which I rent out for airbnb. I live in a house nearby which has parking for an extra large vehicule if needed. In this nearby house I have a small pottery studio. I study Spanish for four hours every morning and my teacher is also a co host and lives nearby and can help out with information about Cuenca. I very much like the Cajas mountains and this house has very easy access to them. I enjoy walking my dog Golondrina along the river bank in the evening. Aside from this, my main interest is collecting and learning about the native plants of Ecuador. I have built a jardín vertical in which I have many examples of Ecuador's native orchids and ferns. I have got to know many of the local potters and painters and can recommend galleries and workshops to visit.
