Laramie is a fantastic host. He was really quick to respond to any questions I had and ensured that no problems occurred during my stay. The room is clean, spacious and homely, much like the rest of the flat. And the area in which the house is situated is really cool!

Between Laramie 's hosting and the standard of accomodation, this made for my best airbnb stay/experience yet! The place feels like you're at home it's so clean, tidy and with such a relaxing decor. Also because of a late flight I couldn't check in til 2 am but Laramie accomodate…

My friend and I stayed for 5nights and it was a great room, clean and just as described. We were greeted there and he was very helpful with what ever we needed. The house was secure and close to the subway which was v useful. There were other guests who we briefly bumped into who…

Laramie space is one of the best places I have been in NYC. The house is really nice and you are really near the subway station. Plus, you have a Laundromat and a grocery just at the other side of the street. There is A/C, a fan, dresser, closet, big bed, desk and desk chair, des…

Response from Laramie:
Thank you for the great review Marcos. For future guests I would emphasize again that there is a chalkboard downstairs to alert me to any issues without seeming 'demanding.' I spent several days last week trying to figure out why there was the faintest smell of gas in the entryway but not in the apartments. I eventually figured out it was the second floor stove and that one of the knobs was broken. A new guest wasn't being careful about making sure the gas was 100% off. I ordered a new one. Problem solved.

For my first AirBnB in NYC this place met all of my criteria (location, price, safety and privacy). I would say the first few days, the bathroom and kitchen were dirty but half way through our stay the cleaners were there and tied up. It was close to the metro but the metro ride…

Response from Laramie:
I invite all guests to share their concerns during their stay and not save those problems for the review. I have a chalkboard downstairs where guests can anonymously report any issues and not seem ‘demanding’. The window was easily fixed once I was aware of the problem. The street is typically quiet after about 10 but New York is a lively city and there is inevitable noise from passing car stereos, sirens, etc. I use an app called Relax Melodies, which plays everything from white noise to ocean sounds to blend out such noises. The J Halsey Street Station is 40 minutes away from some destinations in Manhattan but much closer to others. It takes less than 20 minutes to the Lower East Side in Manhattan, one of the City’s coolest neighborhoods. 7 minutes later, you arrive near the entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge and the World Trade Center and many other sights. As far as cleanliness, I can only point to my overall cleanliness ratings. I personally cleaned her room, wiping down every service and using a deep cleaning hardwood floor solution. The bathroom and kitchen looked fine though it’s possible between my cleaning and the guest arriving late that night, some messes were made. Remember, this is a shared space. As she mentions, I do bring in a cleaner on a regular basis – roughly every two weeks. I will say, and I hope this doesn't sound to harsh/sarcastic/snarky, etc, that I was surprised at this guest's complaints about cleanliness considering her room was left the filthiest of any short term guest I've had. She had some sort of potato chip pillow fight or something? I think most guests appreciate that I am not constantly around, watching everything they do as is typical of the cleanest of the clean Airbnbs. I stayed in an Airbnb in Stockholm where the host made sure there wasn’t the hint of mess for a second as she lived in the same apartment. Of course, she also confronted me over using the kitchen after 9:30pm (I was getting juice out of the refrigerator) and taking a shower after 10pm (that was another guest).

Before buying a house in Brooklyn, I traveled through six continents visiting over 50 countries, staying in hotels, hostels, and sometimes outside. In opening this business I am trying to create the next step up from a great guest house. This means building a secure place t…
