Four Mile Creek B&B is situated on a 1.5 ha block with bush and ocean views. It is situated approximately halfway between two of Tasmania's famous icons - Bay of Fires and Wineglass Bay. If you want to stay in a town then this is not for you. If you want a quiet stay in a semi rural environment then this is the place for you.

This listing and pricing refers to the studio apartment only.

I also have two rooms in the house which have no cooking facilities but do come with a hot breakfast.

The space

Four Mile Creek B&B - self contained studio was built in 2008 / 2009. It has north facing windows / sliding door and faces north with views of the beach and bush.

The sliding door opens onto the north facing deck which has a lavender garden in front of it. Relax in the sun and listen to the sounds of the birds and the ocean. You are also free to walk around the block.

It is totally seperate from the main house, so you can keep to yourself if you so desire. I live in the main house so am available a lot of the time should you need assistance.

While staying in the studio you have access to a BBQ and access to certain vegetables and herbs from my garden. Please talk to me first so that I can explain what is and what is not available.

NOTE: no food is provided in the studio apart from some basics (coffee / tea etc). Any reviews that mention breakfasts are where guests stayed in one of the in house rooms.

The studio can accommodate a maximum of two people and has one queen sized bed.

The ensuite has a large shower with great water pressure. The lounge / dining area in the same space as the bed and there is also a modern kitchen.

The kitchen contains a full sized fridge, hotplates, microwave and dishwasher to allow you to be self sufficient. Modern crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking utensils are all provided.

There is plenty of off street parking. Caravans and boats can be parked, but prior notification is required.

Bicycles can also be locked up overnight, but once again prior notification is required.

The closest restaurant is 2.1 km south of the property. Other places for eating are at Scamander, St Marys, Bicheno and St Helens.

Four Mile Creek B&B is located midway between two Tasmanian icons, Bay of Fires to the North and Wineglass Bay within the Freycinet National Park to the South. Both are approximately a one hour drive from the B&B and have white sand and crystal clear water at both locations.

The Blue Tier with its MTB tracks is just over an hours drive from the property. The Derby MTB tracks are approximately 30 mins further.

You also have Four Mile Creek Beach only 5 minutes walk from the property.

There are many scenic spots around the area or you can spend your time walking, fishing, diving, golfing, MTBing or just relaxing. Depending on the prevailing winds and seas there are several surfing spots near the property.

Guest access

You are able to walk over most of the 1.5 ha of the property.

Interaction with guests

I normally have a drink on the deck of the main house with guests when they arrive and explain what is in the area. I also will normally show you through the accommodation and explain how things work.

Apart from that it is up to you if you want to socialise further or keep to your own space.

Other things to note

I have good phone reception for Telstra and Optus. Due to the fact I only have 3G / 4G internet access and only have a small amount of data I do not provide WiFi access. However if you are after urgent emails I can set a hotspot up on my phone for a short period of time.

Re: Four Mile Creek retreat. It is quite a challenge to make hotel or home minimalism work as it requires both expensive high quality of finish and extensive attention to detail. Bob really achieves this at the top end. Additionally in my travels across 24 countries I have never encountered anything to match the combination of minimalistic quality and fully functioning alternative technology. Bob’s management as a host was outstanding including taking me out to Christmas lunch and a tour of the immediate area! There is a good restaurant just a short drive down the road as well. I commend Four Mile Creek B&B not only to anyone travelling up the east coast of Tasmania but, given how small the state is, to any traveller in Tasmania who wants to see a high quality success story in practice.

We had a wonderful time staying at Four Mile Creek and Bob was the perfect host. Helpful and generous, he gave us great tips for exploring the east coast of Tasmania and beyond. He also went out of his way to help us when we had a non-vacation problem (read:office stuff). The studio was in a peaceful rural setting, the shower was frankly awesome, and the kitchen was good enough for us to cook some fantastic meals with the local produce. We would return to Four Mile Creek in a heartbeat.

Loved our stay. Bobs place at 4 Mile Creek is modern, clean, self contained and comfortable, it is a quiet rural setting with views over land and sea, it is a 5 minute walk to the beach. Bobs place was our home base for one week while we discovered the east coast, we were not disappointed, central, easy drive to all tourist attractions and walks.Bob was a great host and was very helpful. Recommend a stay, very comfortable bed.

We chose Bob's studio at Four Mile Creek for its secluded location, proximity to the pristine east coast beaches and access to various walking localities in the hinterland. The total experience exceeded our expectation. Bob was the perfect host, very considerate and helpful with information on a diverse range of walking tracks and with a comprehensive knowledge of the local area. We opted to explore the Blue Tier plateau north west of St Helens and to climb St Patrick's Head pinnacle near St Marys, but the possibilities are many. The studio apartment is highly functional, energy and space efficient, very private with its own deck, spotlessly clean and with a lovely view of the ocean through the trees. There is a local brewery/restaurant within a few kilometres and quality delis in the nearby townships. I would highly recommend Bob's place to take advantage of the scenery, serenity and multitude of outdoor activities available this region has to offer. Thank you Bob for your contribution in making our stay so pleasurable. N and N

Bob's was the most welcoming host, even though we ended up checking-in inappropriately late. He really helped us to manage our time in the area and fit in the best of the sight-seeing walks. The studio apartment was incredibly clean, spacious and perfectly located. We enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of the waves. Thanks for everything Bob!
